See The Signal Trailer Online

Posted by Allan Ford 22 December, 2007 (0) Comment

22_SignalMoviePoster.jpg I knew almost nothing about The Signal until the studio blindsided me with a promotional DVD that was, literally, “the signal,” asking me if I, “had the crazy?” Since then I’ve been anxiously awaiting more information about the movie, which is directed by three different directors as it tells a horror story from three perspectives. Sadly, information wasn’t exactly forthcoming, and the movie got pushed back several times.

Finally, a full trailer is online for The Signal, revealing more about the movie’s story and really drawing potential viewers in. It looks pretty promising, although it’s lost the “crazy” catchphrase, and even though it still doesn’t tell a lot about the story, at least we know it’s coming soon. The movie now has a February 22nd release date. Read the rest of this entry

Peter Berg to Remake Dune

Posted by Allan Ford 22 December, 2007 (0) Comment

dune-and-peter-berg

Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, The Rundown, The Kingdom) has confirmed to MTV that he will be directing a big budget remake of Dune.

But the project is in the early developmental planning stages as there’s no script, YET. “If it weren’t for the writer’s strike, we’d be in it right now.” So this probably won’t be Berg’s next film, as he has plans to direct Tom Cruise in a CIA spy action thriller Edwin A. Salt.

David Lynch originally brought Frank Herbert’s classic to the big screen in 1984. Although fans of the Dune series are polarized by the movie, but the film has become a cult favorite in recent years. A three-part miniseries also based on the novel aired in 2000.

New Iron Man Movie Armor Image

Posted by Allan Ford 22 December, 2007 (0) Comment

22-iron-man-pic2-m There hasn’t been much Iron Man movie news lately, so let’s take what we can get. A regular Screen Rant reader alerted me to a new full head to toe Iron Man armor image.

It’s very similar to a previous image that while very cool, looks like it was taken at a neighborhood family portrait studio. The photo seems to have been taken at the same time but shows the armor in a different pose.

Not much to add beyond that, really.

You can check it out after the jump.

Sacha Baron Cohen Kills Borat

Posted by Allan Ford 22 December, 2007 (0) Comment

Sacha Baron Cohen - Borat Well it looks like Borat 2 is never going to happen. In fact, Sacha Baron Cohen says he’s done with the character forever.
Cohen spoke the Daily Telegraph newspaper on the subject of wearing Borat’s mustache, and revealed that he’s calling it quits. Apparently his reasons have nothing to do with wanting to distance himself from his Borat persona, he just thinks too many people are in on the joke now. He says, “It is hard, and the problem with success, although it’s fantastic, is that every new person who sees the Borat movie is one less person I ‘get’ with Borat again, so it’s a kind of self-defeating form, really.
The same seems to be true of his Ali G character, which he also plans to shed. Instead, Cohen is still at work on a new movie called Bruno, based on the gay fashionista character that got third billing on the HBO series were Ali G and Borat first got their starts.
I loved Borat, and while the prospect of a sequel has been tantalizing, Cohen is probably right. The fun of Borat is in foisting him on unsuspecting saps. The character is now too well known, making Borat’s job nearly impossible. It’s time to move on. Speaking of moving on, Sacha is currently in Sweeney Todd as a rival barber… and he nearly steals the movie right out from under Johnny Depp. He doesn’t need Borat.

Hellboy 2 Trailer, Posters and Images

Posted by Allan Ford 21 December, 2007 (0) Comment

windowslivewriterhellboy2trailerpostersandimages-7a3c21-hellboy2poster1-3bd687b2-c055-4e36-81c9-d3fb2cd9e08b1.jpgIt seems like only yesterday all the talk about Hellboy II was just a pipe dream, with studios discouraged by the box office numbers of the first movie. Somehow a sequel was made, however, and the floodgates have been opened for Hellboy II: The Golden Army’s online presence.

First, Universal has been kind enough to send over some images from the upcoming sequel. We’ve had a few stills and posters previously, but now we’ve got almost thirty images of Hellboy and friends preparing for battle or (even better) in the middle of their fighting, such as the image there to the right of Hellboy and something big and green.

Secondly, the official website for The Golden Army has gone live over at www.hellboymovie.com. I haven’t been over there to check it out yet, but according to the press release you can send friends Hellboy holiday e-cards, see Guillermo del Toro’s photo gallery, and more.

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army sneak peak

Posted by Allan Ford 20 December, 2007 (0) Comment

IGN has gotten their hands on some stills from the upcoming Guillermo del Torro (Pan’s Labrynth) Hellboy sequel.  Even better than these pictures, which are sort of … okay, is the news that the teaser trailer for the film will debut on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Based on these images it doesn’t seem that the overall design of the film or characters are a radical departure from the first film, though Selma Blair as pyrokenetic Liz Sherman certainly looks to be channelling her inner Joat Jett and Sarah Connor fetish

‘Pride and Glory’ crime drama

Posted by Fiona 20 December, 2007 (0) Comment

pride_and_glory.jpg’Pride and Glory’, written by Gavin O’Connor (Tumbleweeds) and Joe Carnahan (Narc), tells the tale of a family whose lives revolve around the NYPD.

‘Pride and Glory’ starring Colin Farrell, Edward Norton, and Jon Voight. Edward Norton will play a homicide detective assigned to investigate the precinct run by his older brother (Noah Emmerich). Farrell will star as the investigator’s best friend, an officer whose integrity is ambiguous.

O’Conner is co-directing the film and told Variety magazine that the project is one he believes in. He stated: ‘My father was a New York City detective, and I grew up in that world. It’s a celebration of honest cops, which was everything my father was about. Though it is fictional, it is homage to my father.’

‘Pride and Glory’ is due to begin shooting in New York in January 2008.
