Peter Jackson and ‘Hobbit’
Director Peter Jackson, MGM CEO Harry Sloan and New Line Cinema Co-CEOs Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne have jointly announced today that they have entered into a series of agreements regarding “The Lord of the Rings” franchise.
Now that Jackson and New Line have settled all litigation relating to the “LOTR” trilogy, MGM and New Line will co-finance and co-distribute “The Hobbit” and its sequel. New Line plans to distribute in North American, while MGM will handle international rights.
“I’m very pleased that we’ve been able to put our differences behind us, so that we may begin a new chapter with our old friends at New Line,” said Jackson. “‘The Lord of the Rings’ is a legacy we proudly share with Bob and Michael, and together, we share that legacy with millions of loyal fans all over the world. We are delighted to continue our journey through Middle Earth. I also want to thank Harry Sloan and our new friends at MGM for helping us find the common ground necessary to continue that journey.”
Alec Baldwin Signs On To My Sister’s Keeper
Alec Baldwin. We all know how much of a legend he is. He’s one of the best supporting actors ever and the news that he’s about to star in new drama My Sister’s Keeper makes us very happy indeed.
My Sister’s Keeper is a drama by Nick Cassavetes’ about a girl (Elle Fanning) who sues her parents after she finds out that she was only conceived to help prolong the life of her sister (Dakota Fanning), who is battling cancer. ‘Untraceable’ is about a secret service agent, Jennifer Marsh, played by Best Actress Oscar nominee Diane Lane who gets caught in a very personal and deadly cat-and-mouse game with a serial killer who knows that people (being what they are - both curious and drawn to the dark side of things) will log onto an “untraceable” website where he conducts violent and painful murders LIVE on the net. The more people who log on and enter the website, the quicker and more violently the victim dies.
The story of a technology-savvy serial killer who displays his graphic murders on his own website. The FBI Internet Crimes division must work quickly to track him down. Also starring Colin Hanks and Erni Carufel. This thriller is direceted by Gregory Hoblit.

Ewan McGregor Plays Jim Carrey’s Love Interest In I Love You Philip Morris
Jim Carrey is falling in love with Ewan McGregor, and they’re totally going to make out. On screen anyway. Who knows what’ll happen once they walk off camera. Personally, I find Ewan pretty irresistible, but who knows if he’d go for a little hetero on hetero makeout session when there’s no one around in his trailer. Come on, it’s Ewan McGregor. He got to hold a lightsaber! You get some sort of gay for a day pass for that or something, don’t you? He’s kind of like Angelina Jolie for guys. Anyway, we know that on screen at least Carrey and McGregor will get all lovey-dovey in a new movie called I Love You Phillip Morris.
Variety says McGregor has been cast as the romantic lead in the film opposite Jim Carrey. The movie is a dark comedy being directed by the guys who wrote Bad Santa. Nobody does dark better than those guys.

The new movie trailer for Pixar’s WALL-E will be attached to National Treasure: Book of Secrets. But you don’t have to wait to see it, because Disney just released the new preview on the Fox network websites. This is by far my most anticipated movie of next year, narrowly beating out The Dark Knight and Iron Man (I can see those angry comments now). The new trailer shows WALL-E playing with human toys while cleaning up abandoned earth when a spaceship comes down and changes everything. The last bit at the end with the spaceship rocketing through the satellites doesn’t look as polished in low resolution. I’m sure the new trailer will be available in High definition quicktime before week’s end. Watch the new trailer below and as always, tell em what you guys think
Kevin Smith Wants You In His Next Movie

Here’s some exciting news: Kevin Smith wants you to be in his next movie! Well, maybe not all of you. You sir, over the in the corner. Yes you with the third nasal cavity, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want you. Zack and Miri is about making a porno, but not that kind of porno.
But Kev is interested in filming some of you, and he’s put out a call over on his official site for fans to be extras in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, which he’s currently in Pittsburgh preparing to film. Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks are already set to star in the film, and Sunday on his podcast Smith announced that he’s currently in the midst of casting other roles, including a 40sish hottie character he briefly considered hiring Kelly LeBrock for.
Apparently he’s also looking for some random shlubs to be filler, and luckily, you don’t actually have to be in Pittsburgh to qualify, you just have to be willing to find a way to get there. Read the rest of this entry
Walk Hard, First 10 Minutes
Sony has released the first 10 minutes of the Walk Hard, so if you can’t wait until this Friday you can check it out below.
The clip shows Dewey Cox’s back story, from growing up in the country, to cutting his brother in half, to becoming a musician. If the rest of the movie lives up to this it’s going to be hysterical. Can’t wait!
