’National Treasure 2’ trailers has many scenes that isn’t in the movie at all
One of the most compelling sequences in the trailer shows Nicolas Cage at the Lincoln Memorial — three or four shots that make you think that this movie’s grand historical conspiracy somehow involves that famous monument. It doesn’t, and none of those shots appear in the movie.
In one of the trailers, there are shots of the pyramids and other Egyptian landmarks. None of the movie takes place in Egypt.
Editing happens. Especially with movies in trouble or movies where early test audiences are confused. And I’ll bet there was a lot of that on this movie. Trailers are often edited rather radically — scenes rearranged, dialogue snippets taken out of context, and so on. And usually, nobody minds.

Rearranging scenes in the trailer is one thing. But what about this business of putting stuff in the trailer - a *lot* of stuff - that isn’t in the movie at all? If they can get away with “National Treasure”-style misrepresentation, what’s to stop other moviemakers from putting special effects, witty lines, exotic locales and hot-looking actors into *their* trailers, just to get us to go to a movie that doesn’t have any of those things?

Spielber, Lucas and Harrison Ford about ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’
Spielberg promises no tricky editing for the new one, saying, “I go for geography. I want the audience to know not only which side the good guy’s on and the bad guy’s on, but which side of the screen they’re in, and I want the audience to be able to edit as quickly as they want in a shot that I am loath to cut away from. And that’s been my style with all four of these Indiana Jones pictures. Quick-cutting is very effective in some movies, but you sacrifice geography when you go for quick-cutting. Which is fine, because audiences get a huge adrenaline rush from a cut every second.
Harrison Ford: “He’s a stubborn sucker,” the actor says, “and he had an idea that he kept pushing into script form, and then they’d run it by me, and I’d usually rebel, and, finally, you know, one script came along that really struck me as being smart, not working too hard to give reference to the other films, but that carried on the stories we had told so far in a logical way. The character was allowed to age, and we found ourselves in a different period of time, and what I read was a great script, so I said, ‘Let’s go, let’s make this one.”

It looks like this poster is trying to capture a little E.T. magic. However, it’s cute.

‘Bond 22’ Starts Filming on January 3rd
The Bond site M16 reports that ‘Bond 22’ will begin filming on January 3rd, 2008. One reported scene that will be shot this week is in London at the Barbican, although Daniel Craig isn’t in it. Bond site also ran some interesting quotes from director Marc Forster about the film and its direction.
Forster says he aims to further develop Craig’s interpretation of Bond where he left off in ’Casino Royale’. The film will be more of a journey into 007’s inner-being than a globe-hopping trip around the world, as Forster explained: ’When Bond began in the Connery days, travel was a luxury not everyone could afford. Today, the world has become smaller. If Bond goes to a beach with palm trees it’s almost banal now. The only interesting trip remains the journey inwards, deep in to the psyche’.
When asked if he was anything like his predecessor on the series Martin Campbell (who directed both 007 debuts ’Golden Eye’ in 1995 for Pierce Brosnan and ’Casino Royal’ in 2006 for Daniel Craig), Forster says he does not even shout ’action’ - he leaves that to his assistant - adding that some directors like to do things quietly and in private, whereas others shout at actors to get good performances. But he admitted that he became a bit louder on his last film ’Kite Runners’.
’Bond 22’ is set to arrive in theaters on November 7th, 2008.
