Interview with J.J. Abrams About ‘Star Trek XI’

Posted by Allan Ford 27 January, 2008 (0) Comment

Trek Movie scored a Web chat session on Friday with Star Trek XI director J.J. Abrams, who was intermittently joined by members of the creative team and cast, all of whom were participating in the online chat between filming on the movie’s Enterprise bridge set. (That’s a photo at right sent to the chat of Abrams on the bridge!)

Star Trek XIDuring the chat, it was revealed that production is scheduled to wrap at the beginning of April, a full trailer is planned for theatrical release in early to mid summer, and, yes, the doors on the ship will go “SWOOSH”! (Nice!!!)

In the teaser trailer that debuted last week, the Enterprise is seen being built in a ground-based drydock, which is not consistent with Star Trek lore. This has been a cause of concern for Trek fans. When asked if it’s possible we’d see the ship completed in space at the San Francisco Orbital Yard, executive producer/co-writer Roberto Orci replied:

Without giving anything away, nothing in the teaser precludes final assembly in space.

Superhero ‘Hancock’ New Movie Stills (Updated)

Posted by Fiona 27 January, 2008 (0) Comment

There are heroes… there are superheroes… and then there’s Hancock (Will Smith).

With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake.

‘Toy Story’ 1, 2 and 3 getting extra dimension

Posted by Fiona 26 January, 2008 (0) Comment

story1.jpgWalt Disney Studios has announced plans to convert Toy Story and Toy Story 2 for 3D presentation and that Toy Story 3 will also take advantage of the technology.

Toy Story 3D will appear in cinemas (at least American ones) on October 2, 2009. Toy Story 2 3D will follow on February 12, 2010. That’s ahead of the release of the third film in the series, which is set for release on June 18, 2010.

John Lasseter said ’I am sure that this is going to be nothing short of fantastic and people are going to be blown away by the experience. With ‘Toy Story 3′ shaping up to be another great adventure for Buzz, Woody and the gang from Andy’s room, we thought it would be great to let audiences experience the first two films all over again and in a brand new way. 3-D offers lots of great new possibilities for the art of animation and we will continue to use this new technology to tell our stories in the best possible way’.

Sylvester Stallone Defends Using HGH

Posted by Allan Ford 26 January, 2008 (0) Comment

26-rambo_l.jpgSylvester Stallone says he used human growth hormone to get buff for the new “Rambo” movie, and defends its use. “HGH (human growth hormone) is nothing,” the 61-year-old actor tells Time magazine in its Feb. 4 issue.

“Anyone who calls it a steroid is grossly misinformed.” Because it is nearly undetectable, HGH has become a substance of great concern in major league baseball and other sports battling allegations of rampant doping. “Testosterone to me is so important for a sense of well-being when you get older,” he says. “Everyone over 40 years old would be wise to investigate it because it increases the quality of your life. Mark my words. In 10 years it will be over the counter.”

Stallone directed and co-wrote the new “Rambo” movie, which arrived in theaters Friday.
