Drew Barrymore’s ”Whip it!” Cast
Zoe Bell, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis and Marcia Gay Harden join Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore in Barrymore’s directorial debut, comedy/drama ”Whip it!” for Mandate Pictures.
Marcia Gay Harden plays an overbearing ex-beauty queen who would rather see her daughter, Bliss (Ellen Page), in pageants than skates. Drew Barrymore will play Page’s teammate.
Kristen Wiig (”Saturday Night Live”, ”Knocked Up”) plays Bliss’ rowdy mentor, Malice in Wonderland.
Juliette Lewis is Dinah Might, the star of Austin’s top team.
Zoe Bell plays a medical technician moonlighting as derby star Bloody Holly.
The film pened by Shauna Cross begins shooting this summer in Michigan and Texas.
In Bodeen, Texas, an indie-rock loving misfit finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin.
Matthew Fox in ”Billy Smoke” comic adaptation
Warner Bros. has picked up ”Billy Smoke”, an upcoming comic from Oni Press.

Matthew Fox is in negotiations to star in the comic adaptation.
The story centers on an elite hit-man who is nearly killed during a botched job. He realizes that his only way to find redemption is to rid the world of all assassins.
The comic book series, written by B. Clay Moore and illustrated by Eric Kim, will be published by Oni in 2009.
B. Clay Moore’s books have a knack of getting snapped up by Hollywood, with his comic Leading Man, another Oni title, being developed at Universal and his Hawaiian Dick set up at New Line.
Other Oni comics in development for film adaptations include Ben Stiller’s Return Of King Doug and Scott Pilgrim.
Jesse Plemons joins the comedy ”Shrink”
Jesse Plemons joins a ”Shrink” cast that includes Kevin Spacey, Robin Williams and Saffron Burrows and he will play a pot dealer named Jesus in the film.
Jonas Pate is directing a script by Thomas Moffett.
”Shrink” which is currently filming, centers on Hollywood A-list psychiatrist Henry Carter (Spacey), who following a personal tragedy, is unable to cope and turns into a pothead with little concern for his appearance and inability to help his patients.
Among his clients are a once-famous actress, an insecure young writer and a comically obsessive compulsive uber-agent.
Helena Bonham Carter in talks for ”Terminator Salvation”
Helena Bonham Carter is in talks to join the cast of McG’s ”Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
She will join Christian Bale, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anton Yelchin, Sam Worthington, Moon Bloodgood in the ”Terminator Salvation” cast.
Bonham Carter is in line for a small but crucial role in the fourth instalment of the science fiction franchise.
The Warner Bros film is currently shooting in New Mexico.
The studio is looking to wrap all exterior filming before a potential actors’ (SAG) strike in the hope that the blockbuster will still be able to make its May 22, 2009 release date.

“300″ Sequel Definitely in the Making… Probably
Remember last week’s report that a “300” prequel is in development from interviews coming out of the 34th Saturn Awards? This morning Variety is confirming news that probably won’t surprise anyone. “300″, the graphic novel adaptation that cost virtually nothing to make but grossed over $200 million last spring, is getting a sequel….probably. Legendary Pictures, which is also developing “The Watchmen“, is interested in the graphic novel Frank Miller is currently working on, which may be a prequel or some kind of spinoff. Most of the characters, including Gerard Butler’s King Leonidas, died in the original, making a follow-up tricky.
Zack Snyder won’t officially commit until after he sees Miller’s take, but he’s definitely interested. Legendary considers the project a major priority. Continue Reading…

We’ve been provided with 24 cool pics from “Hellboy II: The Golden Army“. The film is written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, and stars Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Doug Jones, Anna Walton, Luke Goss and John Hurt.
Hellboy II is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11th.
