“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” In 2011
Disney has finally announced the fourth installment of “Pirates Of The Caribbean.” Film number-four will be titled “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and it will be released in the summer of 2011.
The company made the announcement with Johnny Depp at the D23 Expo. Johnny Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow, sailed onstage in a pirate ship. He staggered around the stage before hugging Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook, who told the audience of 5,000 fans about the next instalment.
Guys over at Cinematical have some interesting information. Actually, there is a novel called “On Stranger Tides” about pirates written by Tim Powers.
“On Stranger Tides” is a fantasy book that won the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel in 1988 and was also nominated for The World Fantasy award.
In the book, originally published in 1988, the main character is also named Jack (Shandy) who tries to find the Fountain of Youth which was rumored title of the fourth installment.

O MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!, every time there is a new update about pirates of the caribean 4, that is now called pirates of the caribbean: on stranger tides, it just gets even better and better every single time!. I am now looking forwards to seeing pirates of the caribbean: on stranger tides more then ever!. I hope this movie turns out to be how i can already picture it could be like when its released in the summer of 2011.
I have enjoyed all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies so far I am sure the next one will be just as good!
I have to say I kinda of saw this one coming, but do we really need another Pirates movie?? I liked the original, but wasn’t too crazy about the 2nd one (seemed more cartoony) – at least the first one was a bit darker. The third was a long movie, but it did wrap up everything. Just not so sure that they really need to make another one.

Just to let you know!, they are making a pirates 4, 5 and 6, not just a pirates 4. They are planning a second trilogy that will be a continuation of the first pirates of the caribbean trilogy. So no, its not over, and i’m glad its not, so they need to make more pirates of the caribbean movies, until johnny depp looks too old to play as captain jack sparrow, or at least right before he start to look older then he currently is right now!. I’m sure no one wants to see a old and frail jack sparrow played johnny depp, that far into the future!, right?, because that would just be weird!.

Tim Powers is a great writer–I Enjoy ALL his books–after this movie comes out there will be many others will want to read his books.

As much as I have enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean, I really really hope that this upcoming movie has no relation to Tim Powers’ book. It would make an atrocity out of both Tim Powers’ novel and the Pirates of the Caribbean series — Rape death and torture have little place in a Disney movie
Who ever said that rape, death and torture has anything at all to do with the upcoming pirates of the caribbean: on stranger tides movie?. For you know, they might rule those parts of it out of the fourth pirates of the caribbean movie, because for god sakes!, its a disney movie, its not a horror movie, or anything in that catagory. ARE YOU CRAZY! Half the fun of the Pirats movies is that there are so many things going on at once. Each character has their own story and even enemies come together. We can’t just have a Pirates movie about one character! Why change something that people already love!

Neo, i absolutely hope you are right!, because i totally want for pirates of the caribbean: on stranger tides to happen with johnny depp in it regardless too!. So does everyone else, so i think that all of us here and everywhere else who wants for johnny depp to return in the fourth movie, are now complaining about it all over the internet so, maybe that will tell the people who that are in charge of casting for the pirates movies will find out that all of us fans want to have johnny depp in pirates 4 as captain jack sparrow, and they better have him to be in it, or the fourth might suck entirely or might not even happen for that matter!. But lets just hope that he will be in it and the movie will happen, with them paying him to be in it, so that none of us fans will be disappointed!, and upset that it didn’t turn out the way we all wanted it too in the first place!!!!.

Unfortunately the rest of the pirates crew will not be there, but i did find out as of recently that the character pintell and regetti WILL be returning and luckily so will jack sparrow played by johnny depp, and captain barbossa who that is played by geoffrey rush!. I found out that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, will be coming to theaters on July 8th, 2011 Friday, imdb.com says it’s coming out in july 2011, and the only day they would release it to theaters in the month and year is on the 8th, so July 8th, 2011 Friday will be it full-official theatrical release date!.

I don’t think we really need any of those extra actors to be put in any future pirates of the caribbean movies, all we will really need is johnny depp as captain jack sparrow, geoffrey rush as captain barbossa and someone to play blackbeard the pirate in pirates of th caribbean: on stranger tides!, how about someone to play blackbeard such as gerard butler from the movie 300???. I think that could be something that definately be able to work!!!. And the reason i mentioned Blackbeard the pirate, is because “i think” that character or pirate, is in the novel “on stranger tides, which is that story written by tim powers!!!.
Disney has taken a perfectly beautiful series and killed it. What they’re doing is destroying something magical simply because it will make them a profit. Yeah, the moviegoers and Johhny Depp fan girls are going to flock to the movie theaters and in all honesty Disney will probably keep making the Pirates franchise money that they want. But the real Pirates of the Caribbean fanatics (“We wants the redhead!”, anyone?) will most definitely be crying themselves to sleep at night knowing this monstrosity is occurring for the sake of some extra cash.
They have only gone to far with the second movie and third movie, that all!, nt anything from before or with whats yet to come!, so theres no reason to make it sound like the future of the franchise is in trouble because no it’s not at all !!!.
The first series was excellent a fantastic masterpiece. Only the third film came to me a little uneasy. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in would be nice to think. With Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow once again will fascinate those who love. But the film based on Jack if needed. In Orlando is convinced better.

i see were it would be hard to pick up with keira and orlando. i’ve never read the tim powers book that on stranger tides is based off of. but i think in the next 5 and 6 depending on how they make the movies cuz you know they always come full circle by the end. i think it would be neat to see them kinda do how for example how in the fast and the furious movies they had a main cast in the begining and went different ways and by the last movie (fast and furious) they brough vin back and the others and there next movie will continue the story. i think if they come up with a way i wouldn’t mind seeing keira and orlando back cuz they all mix well with the cast and adding some new members in the new movie with that could make a great 5 and 6 installment. theres many ways they could go with these they could even go past a 6th just cuz as long as they keep depp happy aka(the 36 million he’s getting for pirates 4) then the movies will always be great, depp doesn’t like to see his work go to shit in any movie. even in some movies of his the story may suck but his portrail never does…

I loved all three POC movies, and can watch them over and over again because of all the characters and the twists and turns that happen. What I don’t understand is why everyone seems convinced that Will and Elizabeth are unimportant to the next film. Just because the last movie left them in a situation where they can see one another one day every 10 years…I mean, come on. That isn’t exactly finished. Or if it is, it sucks. I don’t think women will flock to see the next movies if they don’t bring back Will and Elizabeth. It’s the only sexy, romantic part of the movies. And Captain Jack with a love interest? His character is wonderful, and we love him – but he’s not the pirate we dream about. Face it, girls need more than action and special effects. That’s why the first three are great, they appeal to men and women. If Disney doesn’t put up the money to woo back Orlando and Keira, they will feel it at the box office. Why mess with a great thing? Depp is smart enough to realize he can’t carry this thing all by himself. What makes him great is how he plays off of the “normal” characters, which are Will and Elizabeth.
i am very upset about what i have heard so far about pirates 4. In the last movie after the credits there was a scene. Elizabeth was standing on a cliff with a will’s and her’s son.They cant just start something totally new if they left it there. Keira has already said she won’t do another movie and Orlando may not come back so this movie will suck.

Actually the release date for pirates 4 has been changed again from July 8th, 2011 Friday, to May 27th, 2011 Friday. The reason for that, is because May 27th, 2011 Friday is on memorial day weekend, and also even because the sooner the walt disney studios company releases it, then the more time it has, to make the money in the box office!. And memorial day weekend, is theperfect time for them to release a “early summer movie!”.

The story of william turner and elizabeth swann is completely over!. That is why we saw in the of the third movie, william and elizabeth and their child have a “after credit” scene, to basically show us that they will no longer be pirating, because they have a child now who they they obviously raise together, and start a family with out the whole pirating ordeal involved!, that’s why we see that “after credits scene” in the movie!.
the problem with what you said sean about them being a normal family and all is that Will can only come on land once every 10 yrs for one day. I think that’s a big problem that can’t just be left out in the 4th movie. Also Will and Elizabeth are fan favorites and if they are out of the movie completely i and alot of other fans won’t be very happy.

Sean’s right about the fact that Will and Elizabeth’s story is OVER! Mostly because that the writers of POTC, TED ELLIOT & TERRY ROSSIO, have explained their fate in the auto commentary of Pirates 3. What happens is AFTER Will returns to Elizabeth and his child in the AFTER CREDITS, the spell of the Flying Dutchman is broken and Will is able to stay with Elizabeth and their child.(meaning that Will does NOT have serve on the Flying Dutchman anymore) Does that make a little more sense now?
Oh I forgot to mention that JACK SPARROW plays a bigger role in the series more than Will and Elizabeth. And that if you haven’t found out yet, but Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom have already stated that they WEREN’T returning to PIRATES 4 as WILL and ELIZABETH. But we know Johnny Depp is back as CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW and Geoffrey Rush is back as BARBOSSA

Forget Elizabeth. Jack sparrow n barbosa should be arguing over the black pearl while trying to find the fountain of youth. Then Blackbeard should turn up n Then sparrow/barbosa Should fight Blackbeard n his crew but lose, then will Should come from under the sea on the flying Dutchman n save the day. Rememer he uses the Dutchman n can go under sea!!! Awesome plot there

I don’t think this is a good idea. Do you remember how the 3rd movie ended? It was perfect..into the sunset..nothing else needs to be added on to this series. They are just being money hungry and I doubt that any more Pirates movies will be good. The first was good, 2nd was okay, 3rd really wasn’t that good at all. There is a pattern here..these movies are getting progressively worse.

So that has to mean that they are going to intentionally make it be alot like Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl!.
Johnny is for sure coming back! I can’t wait 4 the next movie! So excited! Barbossa will also b coming back! O and they can’t replace Johnny if he doesn’t want to do the movie cause he made the character and no one can copy that! I’m a big Johnny depp fan!
