The Last Airbender

We’ve got new fun-made teaser poster for live-action epic adventure M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender,” opening on Friday, July 2, 2010.

Shyamalan’s upcoming movie is based on the hit Nickelodeon cartoon series “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.

“The Last Airbender” also stars Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis, Seychelle Gabriel, Shaun Toub and Jessica Andres.

“they need people of color to play the people in the water tribe”

–yet another racist comment about TLA.

“im just sayin that is how the series went.”

–yet another excuse for being a racist.

Mar, but that really is how it goes. The show has 4 different “tribes.”

the water nation is a kind of indigenous arctic people
the fire nation are a bunch of overpowering power hungry people,
the earth people are pretty mild manners, down to earth (no pun intended) people
the air people you don’t meet, but you are told they are secluded monks. They really SHOULD be using people of color. they’re not all one race in the show, and the one person of color they’re using (as far as I know so far)is the wrong race for the character anyways!

i don’t like how they cast the movie.

It’s not the race, it’s what the characters LOOK LIKE.
It’s just called faithful casting–not racism to think someone that looks like the characters should PLAY the character and not the complete opposite.

Well, since this is about the FAN-MADE MOVIE POSTER, I’m actually going to comment on that instead turning this into yet ANOTHER debate about race. I like it. I think they should go for something like that for the actual poster. It doesn’t give too much away, but it makes you wonder.

They should make the poster of Appa flying with all the people on his back sleeping.
