J.J. Abrams, and Bad Robot are co-producing the popular Cartoon Network cartoon “Samurai Jack

Samurai Jack was a four-time Emmy award winning animated series that ran on Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2004 and followed the adventures of the lone warrior Jack in his quest to find a way to go back in time. In his journey, he faced all manner of robotic and alien enemies, which he adeptly dispatched while pursuing his mission.

According to Fred Siebert, head of Frederator Films, the deals took a long time to close, but resulted in the involvement of both J.J. Abrams, a huge Samurai Jack fan, and Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky in this upcoming film.

Samurai Jack will be a 2D/stereoscopic 3D production, in order to maintain the look of the original show. Is being distributed through Paramount Pictures for a big screen release, with a $20 million budget.

Jack will make a great movie, there’s a lot more to that cartoon than most people think. I hope this shows some people that there is more to animation than Spongebob Squarepants.

Thank goodness for Boom-a-rang! Although some of the episodes are not in order, the Rang has done well trying to keep the samurai alive. I realy hope this movie doesn’t get scratched. Anyone who watches the Samurai and reads the dark tower series will agree that Jack does with a sword what Roland does with his six shooters.
