"9" Check out all nine new character posters for the upcoming adventure / fantasy / Sci-Fi movie “9” Once upon a time, the human race learned to create intelligent war machines. The machines that a scientist has created rebelled and began to manufacture an army to wipe out humanity. So, before his death a wise scientist creates a group of 9 rag dolls putting into them his own soul, and they survived the destruction. The Scientist transferred his life force into them via an invention. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them. "9" Poster (1) 1 – The oldest and their self-proclaimed leader. He is the domineering, clever and wise. He is very arrogant and hot-tempered. Voiced by Christopher Plummer. "9" movie poster (2) 2 – The kind-hearted, delicate old inventor. He is fascinated by scrap and debris (garbage), and loves to explore the wasteland and look for parts for his inventions. Always walking with a cane, and can only see with a lorgnette. Voiced by Martin Landau. "9" poster (3 & 4) 3 & 4 – Twins. They are strange dolls, curious but very shy as well. They are unable to speak, using flickering lights to communicate with each other, often when they are nervous or frightened. Like cats, they instinctively run and hide at the sight of danger. When they need to explain something, to someone else, their eyes turn into film projectors. "9" poster (5) 5 – The healer, mentor, great engineer and inventor, a loyal friend. He is missing his left eye, which he presumably lost in a previous monster attack. He is the journeyman of 2. Voiced by John C. Reilly. "9" poster (6) 6 – A wild and impulsive visionary and artist. He has visions of the past and future and uses his art as a medium to explain them. His visions turn out to be precise predictions of future happenings, and often help solve mysteries that 9 needs assistance with. Voiced by Crispin Glover "9" poster (7) 7 is the group’s sole female, a brave and self-sufficient warrior, a fiercely independent adventuress, she has been out patrolling the wasteland. To survive, she has adapted, finding the bones of a deceased bird and crafting her signature skull helmet. The rebel, a female warrior, fearless and brave. She is impatient and can be stubborn and irrational but she is always calm in dangerous situations. But she has a soft and gentle female soul, and she is ready to give her life for those dear to her.Voiced by Jennifer Connelly. Tim Burton explains why he loves 7:
“7 is my favorite in terms of poses struck. Growing up on martial arts movies, 7’s got that real Bruce Lee kind of quality that is just really strong.”
"9" poster (8) 8 was created to help the others physically survive the dangerous, post-apocalyptic world. He is armed with a giant kitchen cleaver and half a scissor blade. He is 1’s personal bodyguard and would die for him, though he is crude. He is a giant – strong and fierce,  but isn’t very clever and is easily deceived.  8 is voiced by Fred Tatasciore. "9" poster (9) 9 – Good-hearted, thoughtful, and sincere. He will easily risk his own life to save others. Despite being a newcomer to the group, he displays leadership qualities that can help the others survive. He seeks truth in the history of the world and the dolls, and wishes to know the meaning of life. Voiced by Elijah Wood. Directed by Shane Acker (Corpse Bride, Monster House) and co-writer with Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House) the movie is based on Acker’s Academy Award-nominated 2005 short “9″ – a post-apocalyptic nightmare in which all of humanity is threatened.The film is produced by Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) “9″ arrives in the movie theaters September 9th, 2009.
