Antoine Fuqua In Talks To Helm THE EQUALIZER

Antoine Fuqua - Olympus Has Fallen Set Juicy info leaks ahead of tomorrow’s release of Olympus Has Fallen that Antoine Fuqua is now said to be in talks to replace Nicolas Winding Refn and take over Columbia Pictures’ upcoming adaptation of The Equalizer. The big-screen adaptation of the 1980s TV show, The Equalizer was first announced over a year ago, when Russell Crowe was said to be attached to star, but Denzel Washington replaced him in the film. Washington’s Training Day director Fuqua could be a good fit, though hasn’t always displayed the strongest touch with would-be franchise kick-offs such as King Arthur. The movie written by Richard Wenk will retain the basic concept and is designed to launch the first franchise for Washington. The original show starred Edward Woodward as Robert McCall, a former intelligence operative-turned-private eye/vigilante with a lot of contacts who is available for hire if you have a problem that you don’t know how to solve. Production is set to begin in spring 2013.
