Australian filmmaker George Miller (Happy Feet, Mad Max franchise) has finally confirmed that he is no longer involved in the “Justice League” live-action feature.

Miller appeared on Australian morning TV show “Sunrise” and confirmed that he’s no longer involved, adding that if it ever gets greenlit again, it’ll be recast, because “the studios seem to want bigger stars in their superhero movies now.

Miller added that he’d like to work with Mel Gibson again and while the actor doesn’t want to do the “Mad Max” script he wrote, he hasn’t given up on that possibility just yet. [source: Dark Horizons]

It’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve heard anything on the progress of “Sherlock Holmes,” re-imagining of the world’s greatest detective. The Sun is reporting that the Guy Ritchie-directed movie has had a few problems on set, two of which almost caused Robert Downey Jr to be seriously hurt.

While filming of a fight scene, Downey was knocked unconscious by a 7-foot, 330lbs co-star Robert Maillet (wrestler Kurgan-WWE). Downey was “out cold” for six seconds and “drooling blood” before medics could bring him round.

Source added:

“He didn’t want to go to hospital and kept trying to get up. He’s a trooper. But there have been lots of other problems too,”

However Downey Jr.’s condition wasn’t the only issue director Ritchie has had to contend with - the movie has reportedly been plagued by various other setbacks. One incident on Friday left the cast and crew running for safety after a petrol tanker burst into flames during a delivery to the set, closing down production for two hours, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.

Aimed for a November 20, 2009 U.S. release, ” Sherlock Holmes” reportedly is based on Lionel Wigram’s upcoming comic book and centers on the adventures of the famed 19th Century detective. Apart from Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, this action thriller film will also see Rachel McAdams as she takes on the role of Irene Adler, Holmes’ love interest.

Mel Gibson Ordered to Talk About “Passion”

Posted by Allan Ford 28 November, 2008 (0) Comment

Mel Gibson has been ordered by a judge to answer questions in court about “The Passion of the Christ” in response to a screenwriter’s lawsuit.

An LA judge Gregory Alarcon said that Gibson has to appear for a deposition by mid-January to answer questions about planning and filming the movie in response to the lawsuit.

Benedict Fitzgerald is suing Gibson, who directed the controversial religious epic, over accusations he cheated the screenwriter out of millions of dollars in potential earnings. He claims Gibson engaged in a “chronic and conspiratorial pattern of deceit” by telling him he was working on a project with a budget of between $4 million and $7 million. Fitzgerald alleges he was only paid $75,000 and that he had to borrow $200,000 from Gibson to cover expenses. The Passion Of The Christ went on to gross an estimated $600 million worldwide.

Gibson’s attorneys had tried to keep their client from having to answer questions about the award-winning film.
