Bond-MGM

Christopher Nolan – the filmmaker who uses his gritty realism in almost every Superhero movie these days because comic books are for children – maybe can inject some of it into the Bond franchise. Additionally, Nolan is a huge James Bond fan, and has said in the past that he would be interested in doing a Bond film at some point.

We recently learned that Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are circling the princely roles of Cinderella and Rapunzel’s self-absorbed love interests in Disney’s adaptation of the Broadway musical Into the Woods. Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp are already on board for Rob Marshall’s darkly comic mash-up of classic fairy tales.

Scarlett Johansson

Set in New York just after WWII, Truman Capote‘s reflective portrayal of a wealthy 17-year-old ‘Summer Crossing’ is one of the books that made a difference to Scarlett Johansson. She loves Capote’s first novel so much that she will adapt his near-lost novel.

The Dead2: India

Howard J. and Jonathan Ford, aka the Ford Brothers, the British director/writer/producer team behind the acclaimed African-set zombie shocker The Dead, are now in post-production on The Dead 2: India, the first zombie film shot in India. A new trailer for The Dead 2 recently premiered and it looks like the sequel is continuing the gritty action style begun in the original along with grisly zombie siege scenes, which is fine by me.

Metastasis

I do not watch much TV, but ‘Breaking Bad’ is decidedly different. A fantastic study of morality in a social context will air a Latin American ‘Breaking Bad’ adaptation after all. A few days ago, Sony, who owns AMC’s hit methamphetamine drama expressed its disappointment that the largest Spanish-language network Univision would announce the new show, which would be called ‘Metastasis,’ as part of its lineup for next year.

The Congress1

I’ve just shared the first trailer for James Franco’s As I Lay Dying, and Ari Folman’s intriguing sci-fi film The Congress has also debuted a trailer. Five years after his excellent animated doc Waltz With Bashir film, Israeli director is back on the Croisette with the follow-up in the vain of Charlie Kaufman films, but with animation that promises a head-spinning experience.
