Martin Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret Moved to Thanksgiving
Distribution rights for Martin Scorsese’s 3D adventure, Hugo Cabret have been assigned to Paramount and its release date has been moved up a couple of weeks to November 23, the day before Thanksgiving, best for family-friendly entertainment.
Deadline reports that the film has now put off until a couple of weeks to the very busy and competitive date. “Hugo Cabret” was originally slated to be distributed by Sony Pictures, under GK Films’ output deal. Sony had the film scheduled for a December 9 release and when the studio couldn’t provide demanded Thanksgiving date, Sony Pictures agreed to let GK Films move the picture and Paramount get out of the office to be part of Scorsese’s first 3D film .

Ready for The Great Gatsby update? Of course you are, so let’s get started!
We’re talking about the upcoming Baz Luhrmann‘s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel, that is, this time, set to take the production to Luhrmann’s hometown – Sydney, Australia where lensing in 3D will start this August.
So, the iconic story’s home town New York is out of the question.
According to the latest reports, filming will take place at Sydney’s Fox Studios, with Warner Bros. backing the feature and Luhrmann’s Bazmark Films producing.
Steve Carell in Talks to Join Meryl Streep in HOPE SPRINGS
So, what do Meryl Streep and Steve Carell have in common? Nothing?
Guess again, because the right answer is – an upcoming David Frankel‘s comedy/dramaHope Springs!
We already had a little chat about this project, so you probably remember this story, but it’s always the right time to expand cast list, right?
So, according to the latest reports, Carell will play Dr. Feld, a marriage therapist who tries to help a couple rekindle their loveless relationship after 31 years of marriage.
Robert Downey Jr. in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice
We already had a little chat about the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel titled Inherent Vice, and I’m sure you all remember that Robert Downey Jr. was rumored to star in the whole thing as the lead – Larry ‘Doc’ Sportello.
It already sounds like this could be the perfect role for Downey Jr. (check out the description below if you don’t trust us) so no wonder we just learned that Downey is making plans to shoot Inherent Vice with Anderson this fall.
According to the latest reports, Anderson is supposedly halfway through a second draft on the project so a fall start date would give him 6 months to complete the script before filming.
Toy Story Fans, Rejoyce This Year!
Pixar and Toy Story fans rejoice as this year you shall be considered to not just one new Toy Story short film, but now two.
It had been earlier reported that a new ‘Toy Story’ short film would be played before screenings of Pixar’s Cars 2 in June 24. Now Pixar have revealed through Variety that a following all new ‘Toy Story’ short will hit this year as well, this time in November with Disney’s The Muppets. Details are unspecified up till now of what the story to the second short will go after.
The short that will be shown in front of ‘Cars 2′ will center on the characters of Barbie and Ken after their exploits in Toy Story 3. Being left behind their Hawaii vacation, Buzz Lightyear and Woody attempt to recreate a Hawaii paradise to please the disappointed Barbie and Ken. The above synopsis comes from the children’s book ‘Play-Cation!’, based on the upcoming short called Toy Story Hawaiian Vacation.
Jude Law Joins Fernando Meirelles’ 360
It’s official now! Jude Law has joined the cast of the Fernando Meirelles‘ upcoming project that we previously described as “psycho-sexual drama” titled 360.
By now, you already know that the cast includes quite interesting names – Anthony Hopkins, Rachel Weisz, Maria Flor, Karl Markovic and Ben Foster. So, it sounds promising…
The film is scheduled to go into production this March from a script by Peter Morgan.
The story examines sexual morals within and between social classes, using various pairs of characters who have sexual encounters in and outside of their social classes.
The movie is based on the 1900 play Reigen that inspired French drama La Ronde and has provided the dramatic structure for scores of plays and films.
‘Clash of the Titans’ Director Boards ‘Now You See Me’
Louis Leterrier has confirmed with The Playlist that he will direct Now You See Me for Summit Entertainment.
Boaz Yakin (Prince of Persia, Remember The Titans) and Ed Ricourt wrote the screenplay while Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Eagle Eye, Star Trek) are producing. Yakin and Bobby Cohen will executive produce.
After gaining an early experience on martial arts based action films like The Transporter and Unleashed, Louis Leterrier walked on top of the water and turned The Incredible Hulk in a moderate hit while his Clash of the Titans remake became a global sensation. Once the film grossed nearly a half billion dollars worldwide, the French filmmaker was informally being considered to follow up with the James Cameron produced Fantastic Voyage remake, which ultimately went to Shawn Levy, but has officially selected Summit Entertainment’s developing crime thriller “Now You See Me.”
Now You See Me involves an FBI squad in a deadly game of cat and mouse on the trail of an amazing team of the world’s greatest illusionists, who do well a series of daring bank heists during their performances and showers the profits on to their audiences while staying one step ahead of the law. They’re like modern day Robin Hoods, except they take from wise people who put their money in banks, and give to rich people who waste their money buying tickets to expensive magic shows.
Mickey Rourke, Lenny Kravitz, Rosario Dawson in The Blind Bastard Club
The Blind Bastards Club, you should definitely remember this title!
When I first heard about an upcoming Ash Baron-Cohen‘s (yes, he is the cousin of Sacha Baron Cohen) project, I was like – what’s with that bastard thing these days?
But then, I realized that this definitely sounds different, and it’s worth our attention. And, not JUST because Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson and Lenny Kravitz are attached to star in the whole thing.
They already describe this movie as “a visceral black comedy wrapped in an original love story.”
It’s about a congenitally blind man who lives life fearlessly and passionately with his group of fellow blind friends – a film incidentally which will include real blind people acting in supporting roles.
