Angelina Jolie (2009)

According to Variety, Angelina Jolie is in talks with Ridley Scott to play Patrizia Reggiano in his upcoming film “Gucci,” a true-life drama about murder, decadence and the turbulent relations in and around the Gucci fashion dynasty. Scott has approached his “Body of Lies” star Leonardo DiCaprio to play Maurizio, but he is not attached at this point.

The studio is looking to hire a scribe to re-write the drama that recaptures the glamorous days of the Gucci family dynasty in the 1970s and ’80s, when the family was selling $500 million in product annually. Squabbles hobbled the clan until Maurizio, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, came out on top of a power struggle to run the family business. Just when he was about to reestablish the brand name by debuting a line designed by newcomer — and now film director — Tom Ford, Maurizio was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995.

Lauren Shuler Donner on Wolverine 2

Posted by Allan Ford 19 October, 2009 (0) Comment

Empire magazine recently got a chance to talk to X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men, X-Men Origins : Wolverine) at a press do for the just-released ‘Wolverine’ DVD & Blu-Ray about a few upcoming Marvel films including Wolverine 2, X-Men: First Class, Deadpool, and Magneto.

Wolverine 2

On Wolverine 2:

That’s the furthest along of all the X-Men projects on the boil. It’s actually the story we wanted to use for the first Wolverine film, but [Fox head honcho] Tom Rothman preferred to set the character up with an origin story first. This movie will really focus on the relationship between Wolverine and Mariko, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord, and what happens to him in Japan. We’re very fortunate to have a story mostly outlined for us [from the comic book arc co-written by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller]. And we wanted an A+ writer, so we want to Chris McQuarrie (Valkyrie, The Usual Suspects). He came in and has tightened the story and got really immersed in the whole thing – he’s in Japan in his head!

Talking to MTV, Hanks had this to say about the book…

“I just finished it last week. Page-turner. Dan Brown knows how to weave a tale. I was exhausted by the end of it.”

When asked if he would like to star in any movie adapation of the book he replied thusly…

“I’d love to if they’re going to do it. I’m not going to walk away from that. If they make it again, I hope they ask me. If they didn’t, what did I do wrong?”

“The Lost Symbol” is set within the hidden chambers, tunnels, and temples of Washington, D.C., The Lost Symbol accelerates through a startling landscape toward an unthinkable finale. As the story opens, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned unexpectedly to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol Building. Within minutes of his arrival, however, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object — artfully encoded with five symbols—is discovered in the Capitol Building. Langdon recognizes the object as an ancient invitation…one meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of esoteric wisdom.

Private Parts
On the surface Howard Stern’s Private Parts might not seem so bad. After all, the film is basically a love note from Stern to his wife. It was his way of letting her know that despite all the breasts he sees on a daily basis, love conquers all…
