Fright Night

According to the LA Times, Craig Gillespie, Lars and the Real Girl helmer is in final talks to direct DreamWorks’ remake of Fright Night.

The original 1985 Fright Night was written and directed by Tom Holland and starred Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall and William Ragsdale. William Ragsdale plays a teenager and horror film aficionado who believes that his new next door neighbor is a vampire, but of course, no one believes him. In order to stop the evil doings, the teen enlists the add of his favorite TV vampire hunter (played by McDowall), a wash-up actor who could really use the cash. Little does he know that he’s actually going up against a real vampire. Hilarity, as they say, ensue.

Back in November, writer/producer of TV’s Mad Men, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, Marti Noxon was hired to write the screenplay for Fright Night remake.
