Henry Selick to Direct THE GRAVEYARD BOOK Adaptation for Disney

The Graveyard Book It’s been a while since we heard anything about that up and coming adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s Award-winning novel The Graveyard Book. But if you’re Gaiman’s fans, today we have something great to share with you, because we’ve just learned that Disney has finally picked up the project which will (now officially) be directed by Henry Selick and produced by Gil Netter. As you already know, The Graveyard Book centers on a boy named Nobody Owens, known as Bod, who lives in a graveyard. The creepy part of the story is that Bod is actually being raised by ghosts, and he has a guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor the dead. But that’s not all. There are adventures in the graveyard for a Bod – an ancient Indigo Man, a gateway to the abandoned city of ghouls, the strange and terrible Sleer. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, he will be in danger from the man Jack – who has already killed Bod’s family. Sounds pretty cool, and I’m really excited about this project, especially now when it looks that it’s a high priority for Disney. As you probably remember, several companies have tried and of course failed to get an adaptation of this book, but now – with Selick on board – we have no doubts that very soon we’ll hear something new about the whole thing.
