Jackie Chan Signs for “The Spy Next Door”

Jackie Chan has signed to star in the action comedy “The Spy Next Door” which will be directed by Brian Levant and financed by Relativity Media.

Robert Simonds (“The Pink Panther” and “Big Daddy”) is tapped to produce the film with Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh. Solon So and Tucker Tooley are executive producing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jonathan Bernstein and Jim Greer are writing the screenplay for “The Spy Next Door”, which centers on a man (Jackie Chan) who is called to baby-sit his neighbor’s children and winds up having to fight off secret agents after one of the kids inadvertently downloads a secret code. No production date has been set.

Chan’s most recent movie, “The Forbidden Kingdom“, took $51 million at the US box office earlier this year.
