JUMPER Tops North American Box Office

JumperJumper, a film about time and space travel, topped the weekend box office in the United States and Canada, according to tallies late Sunday by Box Office Mojo, which tracks movie ticket sales. The film debuted in first place with sales from Friday to Sunday of 27 million dollars, followed by two other new arrivals – Step Up 2 the Streets with 19.6 million dollars and The Spiderwick Chronicles with 19 million dollars. Fool’s Gold, which was number one last week, took in 13 million dollars, and Definitely, Maybe took in 9.6 million dollars for fourth and fifth place. Juno, the Oscar-nominated endearing tale of a pregnant teenager looking for suitable parents for her baby, was in its 11th week in theatres, holding at seventh place with 4.6 million dollars, and The Bucket List, another long run at eight weeks, took in 4.1 million dollars for eighth place. Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins fell from second to sixth place this week with an intake of 8.8 million dollars. The top 10 was rounded out by Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, in ninth place with 3.3 million dollars and 27 Dresses in 10th place with 3.2 million dollars.
