Kenneth Branagh Will Direct The Boys in the Boat

Kenneth Branagh - The Boys in the Boat

The Boys in the Boat is an upcoming big screen adaptation of the non-fiction book written by Daniel James Brown.

We were all curious to find out who will be in charge for this interesting project, (that’s, by the way, already being described as “Seabiscuit” meets “Chariots of Fire”), and today we finally learned that Thor director Kenneth Branagh is the one!

The Weinstein Company has acquired the film rights to The Boys in the Boat that’s going to be set in the 1930s, and follow:

“… the University of Washington men’s rowing team that first knocked off the likes of Harvard and Yale to earn their place at the 1936 Olympics in Munich where they promptly defeated favorites England and Germany to take the gold medal.”

Branagh definitely looks interested in bringing this kind of story to the big screen, and just in case you find this interesting as well, check out what the director had to say about the whole thing:

“The Boys in The Boat’ is an epic. I was completely captivated by the characters, the era, and the dreams of a generation unfolding beautifully and dramatically.”

Stay tuned for more updates on Branagh’s The Boys in the Boat adaptation!
