Lohan, Murphy lead Razzie nominations
Lindsay Lohan and Eddie Murphy lead the pack in the nominations for the 28th annual Golden Raspberry awards.
The Razzies, which recognise the worst films of the previous year, saw nine nods for Lohan’s thriller I Know Who Killed Me and eight for Murphy’s comedy Norbit.
Both stars played multiple characters in the films and are shortlisted for worst screen couple along with their alter-egos.
Murphy was nominated for worst actor, supporting actress (as Norbit’s wife), supporting actor (Mr Wong) and worst screenplay for co-writing the movie, as well as worst screen couple opposite either of his other roles.
Razzies founder John Wilson explained: “We decided that each of his characters was so offensive that he deserved individual nominations.”
He also blasted I Know Who Killed Me, calling it “the most fabulously brainless movie since Showgirls”.
He added: “By the end of it, you still don’t know what happened. Are they twins or aren’t they? Did she imagine it? Can I please have my hour and 50 minutes back?”
Bratz, Daddy Day Camp and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry were also nominated in the worst film category, while Adam Sandler (Chuck & Larry), Cuba Gooding Jnr (Daddy Day Camp), Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider) and Jim Carrey (The Number 23) are up against Murphy for worst actor.
Bratz stars Logan Browning, Janel Parrish, Nathalia Ramos and Skyler Shaye shared a nod for worst actress in a “four-for-one deal”, alongside Lohan, Diane Keaton (Because I Said So), Elisha Cuthbert (Captivity), and Jessica Alba (Awake, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Good Luck Chuck.”
