Mortal Combat

Yesterday, almost eight-minute mysterious trailer for Mortal Kombat appeared on Youtube thanks to MortalKombatRebirth. Latinoreview confirmed it is a test video shot for Warner Brothers to get funding for a new Mortal Kombat film.

It centers on Jax trying to convince a shadowy figure to enter the Mortal Kombat tournament and kill vicious psychopaths Baraka, Reptile, and other murderers that are participating. It’s a “real-world” approach so Reptile is actually the victim of a rare hereditary disease and Baraka is a doctor who went mad and inserted giant blades into his arms.

The cast includes Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya Blade), Matt Mullins (Johnny Cage), Lateef Crowder (Baraka) and Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion)

The director of the trailer is Kevin Tancharoen, a dancer turned director who’s best known for last year’s Fame remake, and the fight choreography is Larnell Stovall, who was recently awarded the Best Fight Choreographer award at the inaugural Action Fest for his work on Undisputed 3.
