Let’s see what’s new Sam Raimi’s upcoming fantasy adventure Oz: The Great and Powerful! Today we finally have something completely new to share with you, and as you already see we’re talking about two new TV spots. Nothing spectacular, just a little countdown, and a reminder that the movie will finally open this March. But there are some pretty cool scenes from the movie as well, so we definitely recommend you to check it out!
So, as you already know, Sam Raimi is directing the movie from a script written by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire. The film is set before L. Frank Baum‘s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, and will center on a circus magician who finds himself transported to Oz and drawn into a battle between the three witches.
James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Joey King and Bruce Campbell all star in Oz: The Great and Powerful which is set to open on March 8th, 2013.
Disney’s fantastical adventure imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot–fame and fortune are his for the taking–that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Kunis), Evanora (Weisz) and Glinda (Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity–and even a bit of wizardry–Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
