Kimberly Peirce to Direct The Knife
Here’s something interesting, so pay attention. Kimberly Peirce, best known from Stop-Loss project, will direct The Knife. At this moment we know that an upcoming Universal drama is inspired by the true story of a South Central gang member who volunteered to be an informant for the FBI. Check out the rest of this report for more details.
I like the description: “For over a decade, hundreds of blood and crip gang members in South Central Los Angeles have been put away thanks to the efforts of one deep insider. He is not a cop. He is not a Federal agent. This man is one of their own. For the first time ever, he reveals to Guy Lawson how he’s brought down some of LA’s worst criminals, and how he’s stayed alive.”
Dakota Fanning Joins Mississippi Wild, Mickey Rourke, Robert Duvall, Forest Whitaker in Talks
Dakota Fanning and Ryan Donowho have joined the cast of the upcoming Jesse Baget‘s indie thriller titled Mississippi Wild.
But that’s not all, because we just learned that Mickey Rourke, Robert Duvall and Forest Whitaker are in negotiations to co-star in the whole thing and that’s what makes this project quite interesting.
Fanning would play girlfriend to Donowho and together they are teens on the run after stealing some jewelry that belonged to a local gangster.
Martin Scorsese’s ‘Silence’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’
Martin Scorsese is very busy director these days. He’s attached (again) to helm The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio involved.
Ridley Scott was previously set up to direct the film for Warner Bros. that was originally offered to Scorsese.
So, Scorsese and DiCaprio will be re-teaming once more time for an adaptation of Jordan Belfort‘s 2008 memoir The Wolf of Wall Street.
But we already learned that something new is coming!
Apparently, Scorsese’s next movie will be Silence, an adaptation of Shusaku Endo‘s novel of the same name. I know this sounds familiar to you, and you might remember us writing about that back in February 2009.

Alice Eve Joins Men In Black 3
Things with Barry Sonnenfeld‘s upcoming Men in Black 3 are definitely moving forward! We just learned two important facts about the project.
First, the project will re-start production next month. And, second – Alice Eve has been cast as the younger version of Men in Black Agency head Emma Thompson in the time travel storyline.
So, according to the latest reports, Eve will play the younger version of Men in Black Agency head Thompson. Deadline describes her character this way:
“the British actress plays Olivia, hired as secretary for the Agency in 1969. While it appears she was given the job because of her looks, Olivia is actually whip smart. Sure enough, in the contemporary storyline, Thompson runs the place.”
3D Nazi Propaganda Films Discovered by Mora
Australian documentary maker Philippe Mora has uncovered two black and white films shot by propagandists for the Third Reich in 3D in Germany back in 1936. 16 years later 3D format first became popular in the US!
Mora found out the two 30-minute films while searching Berlin’s Federal Archives sources for material for his upcoming documentary film How the Third Reich was Recorded. This one is detailing how the Third Reich used images to build their own reality and control the masses.
The first of the films, entitled So Real You Can Touch It, features close-up shots of sizzling sausages on a barbeque. The second film, entitled Six Girls Roll into Weekend, features what is thought to be two celebrities from the Universum Film Studio, the major German film studio during WW2.
Matthew Vaughn Wants Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty for The Golden Age
Matthew Vaughn has some interesting plans, indeed. As usual, there are already some superheroes involved!
We’ve just learned that Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class director plans to make another superhero movie, The Golden Age, that will follow “retired superheroes who help out their grandchildren when their middle-aged parent screw up the world.”!
So, The Golden Age is based on the yet-to-be-published comic book written by British TV talk show host Jonathan Ross.
Ice Cube to 21 Jump Street
Yeah, that’s right, the former NWA Ice Cube and the actor who scared the hell out of middle America as Doughboy in Boyz ‘N The Hood is in talks to play opposite Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in the feature version of late-eighties TV show 21 Jump Street.
Emcee-turned Cube, who launched his film career 20 years ago in John Singleton‘s ‘Boyz N’ The Hood,’ would be playing the precinct captain in the Sony Pictures film, a police role for the MC who famously rapped “Fuck tha Police” in NWA’s 1988 hit.
‘21 Jump Street’ is the name of the same TV series that launched brilliant career of Johnny Depp. Depp was a baby-faced 24 when he started the series: Tatum is 30 and Hill (also co-writter) is 27. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the animation duo responsible for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, are directing the pic for Sony Pictures Shooting begins in late April and will hit theaters on March 16, 2012.
