FilmDistrict has revealed the first trailer for an upcoming crime thriller movie Parker directed by Taylor Hackford (Ray) based on the novel series by Donald E. Westlake.
The film stars Jason Statham as a professional thief who lives by a code of honor that includes: don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it.
The film, which is a slight departure from Statham’s standard shoot-‘em-up action, also stars Jennifer Lopez, Clifton Collins Jr., Michael Chiklis, Wendell Pierce, and Nick Nolte.
Other iconic actors who have played Westlake’s pulp hero Parker through the years — most notably Lee Marvin in Point Blank and Mel Gibson in Payback.
Yesterday we got a look at the movie’s teaser poster, and now you can check out the first trailer for the crime thriller which hits theaters on January 25th, 2013.
Here’s the synopsis:
Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead.
Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to PalmBeach, playground of the rich and famous, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie (Jennifer Lopez), a savvy insider, who’s short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition. Together, they devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean.
