Uh, sorry I’m late. In the back of my mind I was hoping Paul W.S. Anderson will change his mind. But nope. That’s for real, he’s officially signed on to helm Resident Evil 6, which will mark his fourth time directing a chapter in the series.
He’ll definitely be returning as both director and producer and will begin shooting the film – which doesn’t yet have a catchy subtitle – this fall.
Resident Evil 6 is set to arrive in theaters worldwide on or around September 12th 2014.
Milla Jovovich will also be back as expected and the perennial bad guys of the Umbrella Corporation will no doubt be back again.
If you’ve somehow forgotten, the first trilogy consist of Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Resident Evil: Extinction, with the saga continuing in Resident Evil: Afterlife and Resident Evil: Retribution.
The last installment grossed over $220m worldwide.
As for Anderson, he’s still attached to direct an adaptation of another videogame, Castlevania and is also lined up to direct Pompeii, which is back on track with Kit Harrington recently announced to play the lead role.
