Revenge’s Emily VanCamp As Female Lead In CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Emily VanCamp -- Captain America:The Winter Soldier ‘Revenge’ actress Emily VanCamp beat out five other leading contenders Jessica Brown Findlay, Emilia Clarke, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots and Alison Brie for the role of the female lead in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Although the role isn’t specified, it’s like the role of Sharon Carter, the romantic interest of Steve Rogers, the alter ego of Captain America (Chris Evans) and the niece of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), who will not be returning. A sequel directed by Joe and Anthony Russo will begin filming in March and opens April 4th, 2014. Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson steps in a Black Widow, Colbie Smulders reprise the Maria Hill role, Toby Jones will play Arnim Zola, and Sebastian Stan will portray Captain America’s former friend, Bucky Barnes, who has been transformed into the villainous Winter Soldier. The Winter Soldier project will easily be VanCamp’s biggest role yet since she appeared in the films like The Ring Two, Carriers and Norman. The upcoming film is believed to be based on the acclaimed comic-book storyline of the same name in which writer Ed Brubaker revealed
Captain America’s World War II sidekick Bucky Barnes didn’t die in the 1945 explosion that left the superhero in suspended animation in a block of ice. Instead, an amnesiac Bucky was rescued by the Soviets, fitted with a bionic arm and programmed to serve as an assassin known as the Winter Soldier. The secret is revealed in the present day only after he seemingly killed the Red Skull and launched a terrorist attack on Philadelphia.
