Ronnie Gene Blevins Joins Nicolas Cage In JOE!

Ronnie Gene Blevins We all watched this guy in The Dark Knight Rises (not much of a role, though), but we’ll soon have another chance, ’cause Ronnie Gene Blevins is now set to star in an upcoming indie drama titled Joe. This should sound familiar to you.  I mean, after all Nicolas Cage is already on board to star as the lead. And what also sounds good is that, according to the latest reports, Blevins jumps in to play the movie villain. David Gordon Green directs the project from a script written by Gary Hawkins, but we should also mention that the whole thing is actually based on Larry Brown‘s novel of the same name. Joe centers on Cage portrays an ex-con who becomes a role model to a 15 year-old from a broken home. And that’s pretty much all we know about this movie so far. Except, of course, that Cage is on board to play that ex-con, while Blevins will portray the bad guy named Willie Russell. Tye Sheridan is also on board as the above mentioned teenager. In case you want more details about the whole thing, here’s the synopsis of Brown’s novel:
Nearing fifty, Joe Ransom won’t slow down, not in his pickup, not with a gun-and certainly not with women. But all the fast living in Mississippi won’t fill the hunger Joe can’t name. At fifteen, Gary Jones is already slipping through the cracks. Part of a hopeless, homeless wandering family, he’s desperate for a way out. He finds it in Joe. Together they follow a twisting map to redemption-or ruinAn understated, powerful, beautiful evocation of a place, a time, a people.
Shooting on Joe started last week, so we definitely expect to hear more about the whole thing as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
