Sarah Gadon-TASM

Yesterday it came to light that Shailene Woodley would no longer be committed to the Amazing Spider-Man franchise after Sony Pictures announced the release dates for the next two films in the story of Peter Parker.

The reason for the decision lied in the fact that director Marc Webb wanted to ‘streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship.’

Now comes word of Cosmopolis star Sarah Gadon who confirmed she will be joining The Amazing Spider-Man franchise.

Though ET Canada does not give further details of what role the Canadian actress agreed to take on, could it be then that Gadon has been tapped as a potential replacement for Woodley in the role of Mary-Jane Watson?

Other sources have reported that this is not the case and that Gadon will play a different role in the series as there are many ladies in Peter’s life like Liz Allan, Betty Brant and Felicia Hardy.

Meanwhile, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be widely released on May 2nd, 2014. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was recently plugged in to a June 10nd, 2016 release date, while The Amazing Spider-Man 4 is due for release on May 4th 2018.

Hopefully we’ll find out more details in the coming weeks.
