So, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, as well as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter author is probably the best man for this kind of job, because one thing is for sure, he definitely knows how to mix historical figures with horror movie elements. The film project already has Johnny Depp attached to star in and produce the film with Tim Burton expected to direct the whole thing. In addition to Depp, Richard Zanuck, Christi Dembrowski and David Kennedy are set to produce the project as well. Depp purchased the rights to Dark Shadows from Dan Curtis’ estate, who created the vampire soap opera which aired 1,225 episodes on ABC between 1966 and 1971. The story centers on vampire Barnabas Collins (Depp). Enjoyed by fans for its moody and atmospheric storyline, this upcoming version will take the story in a new direction. Shooting of this new version is expected to begin in January for Warner Bros. So, as you see, Grahame Smith is quite busy man nowadays, since Burton is also producing an adaptation of his Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, together with Timur Bekmambetov, and there are already some reports indicating that one could be Bekmambetov “next directing effort.” We’ll keep an eye on these interesting projects.
