James Cameron 3D glasses

After we wrote about Martin Scorsese and Andy Serkis and their opinions about 3D, we are talking about 3D again!

And yes, James Cameron is probably the best person when it comes to three dimensional world, since he’s already preparing 2012 release for the 3D version of Titanic, which will coincide with the “100 year anniversary of the sailing of the ship.”

Cameron, pioneer in the field of motion capture, in the mid-’90s already used the nascent technology to create the massive crowd scenes and stunts in his blockbuster Titanic.

On the other hand, we will not have to wait for Avatar on 3D Blu-ray for too long, because it’s probably going to be released in fall this year.

Martin Scorsese, 3D, Andy Serkis

This time we are not going to talk whether you prefer 3D movies, or not. We decided to hear opinion about this subject from one of the leading directors – Martin Scorsese. Actor Andy Serkis also has to say something about the same thing.

So, you could read that William Friedkin‘s Exorcist will never be in 3D. That’s exactly what the director said, and we gave you his reasons for this decision.

But nowadays, seems like every single information that comes from Hollywood includes the fact that most of directors are very satisfied with suggestion for their projects to be released in 3D.

And we’re not only talking about movies that look-like Avatar or pretend to be some kind of revolutionary science fiction stories. No, we often have a chance to hear that even drama, or comedy should have the same treatment.

You might wonder how legendary directors feel about this issue. When it comes to Martin Scorsese, seems like he doesn’t have any doubt.

Exorcist, William Friedkin

How do you feel about 3D movies? Are you one of those who likes all kind of special effects, or are you thinking that 3D world just ruins our imagination?

Well, seems like some (or at least one of the) directors still believe in good old movies, with the story and acting as primary determinations of a good film. That’s why The Exorcist will never be in 3D – and we have to take William Friedkin‘s word on that!

Looks like the most of the directors like this trend of converting the old movies into 3D spectacles, especially after Avatar’s big success, so now we have a new list of movies that will have this kind of Warner’s treatment (George Lucas’ Star Wars and Steven Spielberg’s Jaws).

Toy StoryWalt Disney Studios has announced plans to convert Toy Story and Toy Story 2 for 3D presentation and that Toy Story 3 will also take advantage of the technology.

Toy Story 3D will appear in cinemas (at least American ones) on October 2, 2009. Toy Story 2 3D will follow on February 12, 2010. That’s ahead of the release of the third film in the series, which is set for release on June 18, 2010.

John Lasseter said ’I am sure that this is going to be nothing short of fantastic and people are going to be blown away by the experience. With ‘Toy Story 3′ shaping up to be another great adventure for Buzz, Woody and the gang from Andy’s room, we thought it would be great to let audiences experience the first two films all over again and in a brand new way. 3-D offers lots of great new possibilities for the art of animation and we will continue to use this new technology to tell our stories in the best possible way’.
