Ray Winstone and Ray Liotta join “13 Tzameti” Remake

Ray Winstone and Ray Liotta join Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Sam Riley and 50 Cent in “13,” an English-language remake of the 2005 French movie “13 Tzameti.”

The original, “13 Tzameti,” won the 2006 Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Gela Babluani won best director at the Venice Film Festival.

Sam Riley plays the title character, a young man who stumbles into an underground competition where the wealthy gamble on human beings in a Russian Roulette-like competition.

Ray Winstone will play a competitor who has been sprung from a mental institution to participate and Ray Liotta will play a cop on the trail of the illegal game.

Mickey Rourke, after successful Darren Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler,” will star in “13″ as a convict in a Mexican prison who is sold into the competition.

50 Cent will play an employee assigned to escort Rourke’s character to the bloody game. Jason Statham, plays man who bets on the competition and has a peculiar interest in one of the competitors.

Gela Babluani, who wrote and directed the original, wrote the script and will direct “13″ that begins production in New York on November 20, 2008.

Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and 50 Cent Join “13 Tzameti” Remake

Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham and 50 Cent have signed on to star opposite Sam Riley in “13“, director Gela Babluani’s remake of his French-language film “13 Tzameti“, reports Variety.

Sam Riley, 50 Cent, Rourke and Statham will star in the story of a man who steals a mysterious package and gets sucked into an underground gambling ring.

The 2005 film was the feature directorial debut of Géla Babluani. Twenty-two-year-old Sebastien leads an impoverished life with his immigrant family constantly struggling to support them. While repairing the roof of a neighbor’s house, he overhears a conversation about an expected package that promises to make the household rich. Sensing the opportunity of a lifetime, Sebastien intercepts the package containing a series of specific instructions. Following the clues, he assumes a false identity and manages to slip through the grasp of the enclosing police as he ventures deeper and deeper into the countryside. The closer he gets to his destination and the more people he meets along the way, the less he understands about what he is looking for. Ultimately, he comes face to face with a ring of clandestine gamblers placing bets on the outcome of a multi-player, high stakes tournament of Russian roulette.

The original won the 2006 Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Babluani won best director at the Venice Film Festival.

“13″ will be produced by Rick Schwartz of Overnight Productions, Aaron Kaufman of Barbarian Films and Valerio Morabito of the Morabito Picture Company. The film will begin shooting on November 17th in and around New York City. Read the rest of this entry

50 Cent to lose muscle for role in ‘Streets of Blood’

50 Cent who launched his acting career with 2005 film ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’, will co-star with Sharon Stone and Val Kilmer.

50 Cent has been mocked by friends after being told that he must slim down for his role in forthcoming movie ‘Streets of Blood‘, before filming starts shortly.

The US rapper, who will play a policeman in the movie, has been instructed to prepare for filming by starting a new aerobic exercise fitness programme.

“To lose some of 50 Cent’s hard-earned muscle his trainer has incorporated aerobic routines into his training schedule, but he is getting a lot of grief from his mates.”

Val Kilmer, Dylan McDermott, Sharon Stone and Brian Presley will also star in the movie.

Val Kilmer and Dylan McDermott will take the lead roles in police drama ‘Streets of Blood.’

The pair play cops struggling to cope with the chaos in New Orleans in the wake of 2005’s Hurricane Katrina.

Sharon Stone, 50 Cent and Brian Presley also star.

The movie will be directed by Charles Winkler, son of Oscar-winning producer Irwin Winkler, from a script by Eugene Hess.

The eight-week shoot is scheduled to begin next month.
