Alec Baldwin Joins Football Comedy Three Mississippi
Earlier this week the film was reportedly called Turkey Bowl. Thanks to another film getting sold under that title, the football comedy’s changed its name to Three Mississippi, as a working title.
Another mismatch – it was first seen as a project to team up The Other Guys co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. But, Alec Baldwin was the man who co-inspired the project and Adam McKay , who’ll produce the flick through his and Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez banner, explained:
The Other Guys Review
Adam McKay’s comedy The Other Guys has a lot going for it: Even though it mines perennial cop-buddy-movie material, it doesn’t feel generic or strained, and unlike other recent comedies — Dinner for Schmucks pops to mind — it never descends into grating self-consciousness. Forget impressing us with its cleverness; it’s happy to seduce us with its dumbness, and when McKay and his performers — chief among them Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and Eva Mendes — dangle that shiny lure, damn it if it doesn’t work at least half the time…read more [MovieLine]
Rumors of Will Ferrell’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. After falling from his perch atop the comedy world with a trio of high-profile disappointments, Semi Pro, Land of the Lost, and Step Brothers, the venerable funnyman seemed destined to join the tragic ranks of fellow SNL alums Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy, comic geniuses who fell prey to their own spectacular success. But he makes a triumphant return to form in The Other Guys, a riotous action comedy from longtime Ferrell collaborator Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights)…read more [hollywood.com]
Will Ferrell to Star in Spanish Comedy
Emilio Diez Barroso and Darlene Caamano Loquet of NALA Films announced that they are teaming up with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Jessica Elbaum of Gary Sanchez Productions to produce the Spanish-language comedy, Casa De Mi Padre (House of my Father), starring Will Ferrell. NALA Films is fully financing the project which is set to start shooting this September in California.
Will Ferrell’s participation in the project is not entirely based on his connection with the material. Rather, he was embroiled in a pending lawsuit against Gary Sanchez. Ferrell’s participation is part of a closed-door settlement between both parties. Further details were not disclosed.
New Extended The Other Guys Clip
A new four-minute clip for Columbia Pictures’ new comedy The Other Guys has just been released.
Directed by Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers), the movie follows NYPD Detectives Hoitz and Gamble (Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell) as they attempt to rise from anonymity by tackling a case that no one else wants. Desk jockeys unaccustomed to working together, Hoitz and Gamble end up butting heads with each other — and with their precinct’s resident super cops, Detectives Highsmith and Danson (Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson)— along the way.
Step Brothers Sequel
What do you guys think about the idea of making the Step Brothers sequel? Ok, we know it’s too early to talk about something like that, but, still, there are some rumors that Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly could reunite once again for the familiar story.
Actually, everything started when director Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) revealed that Anchorman sequel is officially dead: “It’s not happening, for sure, one-hundred percent,” he said.
“I’ll put it to bed. Maybe it’s for the best. You don’t need sequels for everything. It was such a great experience doing that, but let it stand,” he added.
But, then, McKay announced that a sequel to Step Brothers is a real possibility, mostly because he wants to re-team with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. He said:
“We’re kicking around the idea of Step Brothers 2. We feel like there’s way more fat to be mined there. While it isn’t quite the legend that Anchorman is, it has built kind of a nice following. We think it could be a pretty fun one.”
