Al Pacino Opened Third Rome Film Festival
Al Pacino opened Rome’s third International Film Festival with his independent movie “Chinese Coffee.”
Pacino will also be given a Marcus Aurelius award for career achievement at the festival, which runs until October 31, 2008.
”I don’t want to cancel the cultural initiatives of the past but I think we need to promote Italian films rather than Hollywood stars,” the Italian capital’s new mayor Gianni Alemanno said.
So, “Pride And Glory,” featuring Edward Norton and Colin Farrell, is the only US entry.
The festival’s competitive section will feature six Italian films, five from France, and two movies from both Germany and Poland. Films from the UK, Ukraine, Portugal, Belgium, Russia and South Korea also feature.

After 30 years as partners in the pressure cooker environment of the NYPD, highly decorated Detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan should be ready for retirement, but aren’t. Before they can hang up their badges, they are called in to investigate the murder of a notorious pimp, which appears to have ties to a case they solved years before.
Like the original murder, the victim is a suspected criminal whose body is found accompanied by a four line poem justifying the killing. When additional crimes take place, it becomes clear the detectives are looking for a serial killer, one who targets criminals that have fallen through the cracks of the judicial system.

Johnny Depp to Portray Salvador Dali
Johnny Depp is holding auditions to find screenwriters for the Peter Rawley-produced ‘Dali’ picture and he is going to depict Spanish painter Salvador Dali in the movie.
He is holding an open audition to seek for screenwriters as he wants the best possible script he could get. A source commented the scribblers audition saying,
“He’s open to working with anyone, from housewives to pensioners, if the script is right.”
All he needs now is a script. And apparently he doesn’t really care who it comes from, just as long as it’s good.
Depp is not the only Hollywood star set to portray the eccentric artist on the big screen.
Al Pacino and Peter O’Toole are being lined up to star in rival movies, ‘Dali and I: The Surreal Story’ and ‘Goodbye Dali’.
