Diane Kruger Denies Possible Superman Casting
Lovely Diane Kruger will not star in an upcoming Zack Snyder‘s Superman film opposite Henry Cavill.
Another report about this movie, I know, and still nothing official and we’re still playing hot and cold game but who cares!
Following a press conference for her latest film Unknown, Kruger was asked about the recent Superman rumors and simply stated: “No, it’s not true.”
By the way, she is the second actress to deny any involvement on the film.
Alice Eve, Diane Kruger or Rosamund Pike to Play Ursa in Zack Snyder’s Superman?
Few days ago, someone called me almost an imbecile when I wrote that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike are contenders for a mysterious female role (that is not Lois Lane, by the way) in an upcoming Zack Snyder‘s Superman.
So, I would like to dedicate this report for my favourite reader – hey (wo)man, I have some exclusive information just for you!
Those ladies are actually up for the role of a Kryptonian villainess named Ursa.
According to LatinoReview “Lois Lane WILL be in the film. The character these lovely actresses have come out for is no other than a Kryptonion villainess who is going by the name of URSA.”
In her first appearance, Ursa was one of General Zod’s minions who attempted to conquer Krypton in 1978′s Superman: The Movie. Jor-El sentenced Ursa, Zod and Non to the Phantom Zone, and they escaped following a nuclear detonation in space.
Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike on the Short List for Female Lead in Superman
Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike are on the short list to play the female lead in the upcoming Superman film, opposite Henry Cavill.
Well, well, well, what do we have here, is one of these lovely ladies an upcoming Lois Lane? NO!
We’re not here to talk about THAT character, we’re here for the role whose identity hasn’t been disclosed – but, it’s not Lois Lane.
So, Zack Snyder‘s upcoming reboot of Superman has quite interesting cast on board.
We previously learned that Henry Cavill will be our upcoming Man of Steel and now we have three beauties as the top choices for the female (still unknown) role. Not bad at all.
Relativity Captures Raven
Relativity Media announced today that it has acquired U.S. rights to market and distribute Intrepid Pictures’ The Raven, directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) and starring John Cusack (2012, 1408).
The film also stars Luke Evans (Immortals, Clash of the Titans), Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter Series) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster). The script was written by Ben Livingston (Bruce Almighty) and Hannah Shakespeare (Loverboy).
The Raven is a fictionalized account of the final days of gothic writer Edgar Allan Poe as he tracks a serial killer whose crimes mirror works by the famous author.
Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans are producing for Intrepid, alongside Aaron Ryder for FilmNation, who brought the project to Intrepid. Galavis Films’ Jesus Martinez is executive producing. FilmNation is selling international distribution rights to the film. Principal photography on The Raven began in November in Hungary, with a move to Serbia in December. Production wrapped in January.
Intrepid Pictures credits include the upcoming action feature The Cold Light of Day, directed by Mabrouk El Mechri and starring Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. Intrepid also produced the hit horror feature The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman.
“We’re excited to partner with the Relativity team on this thrilling feature, which capitalizes on the popularity of Edgar Allen Poe and his classic tales,” said Macy and Evans in a joint statement. “We’re also very pleased that Relativity is committed to helping deliver this film to the widest possible audience.”
“Edgar Allen Poe’s name is synonymous with legendary tales of suspense, and we love the idea of a thriller with Poe at its center, McTeigue at the helm and a talented cast bringing it all to life,”
said Relativity’s President of Worldwide Production, Tucker Tooley.
Luke Evans and Alice Eve in James McTeigue’s The Raven
What would happen if a serial killer challenged poet Edgar Allan Poe to solve a series of killings inspired by his own stories?
That’s exactly what the upcoming thriller, titled The Raven, and directed by James McTeigue, will try to answer.
And very soon, because the project begins shooting in late October. Today, more casting updates on this one!
Luke Evans and Alice Eve are in negotiations to star opposite John Cusack in a story that will follow:
Joss Whedon on The Avengers
Ok, we can relax now! Black Widow or, if you prefer lovely Scarlett Johansson, will be the only female Avenger, but it’s not like she’s going to be the only female character in the upcoming Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers!
And this update comes straight from director, so take it as an official thing. Check out the rest of details that Whedon shared with all of us:
“It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger,” he explained. “But she will not be the only female character.”
Let’s guess, Pepper Potts from the Iron Man franchise, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, or… Betty Ross, the love interest of Bruce Banner played by Liv Tyler in The Incredible Hulk?
Or perhaps, Natalie Portman’s character from Thor, or maybe even Jane Foster?
Jason Flemyng as Azazel in X-Men: First Class
This actor is probably best known from titles like Clash of the Titans, Kick-Ass and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and today we’re here to add his name to quite interesting (and previously reported) Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class cast list.
So, one big welcome for Jason Flemyng who will portray Nightcrawler’s father Azazel, a character that he already described as “a teleporter.”
Here’s a little detailed description of this character:
“Azazel claims that many years ago an ancient horde of demonic mutants from biblical times called the Neyaphem were in an epic battle with a group of angelic over-zealous mutants, named the Cheyarafim. They were victorious in the battle and vanquished the “evil” mutants to an alternate dimension for all eternity.
The Neyaphem’s leader, Azazel, was the only one who was able to breach the dimensional void for brief periods of time due to his teleportation powers. His only hope to return to earth was by impregnating women because his children are linked to his dimension. Azazel has the ability to teleport across interdimensional distances, generate bolts and streams of paralyzing energy, as well as destructive energy which causes a form of disintegration, and can disguise his appearance.
Aaron Johnson Will NOT Star in X-Men: First Class
Aaron Johnson will not star as Cyclops in the upcoming Matthew Vaugh‘s X-Men: First Class.
In fact, he will not be the part of this project at all. Or, at least, that’s what producer Tarquin Pack said in an interview, although we previously had a chance to hear that the “Kick-Ass” star was “100% locked” for the part of a young Scott Summers in the prequel. Check out the most interesting parts of the interview.
“Don’t believe everything you read in the papers about Aaron, unfortunately,” Pack said. “Aaron’s kind of busy” and added:
“This isn’t going to be a Kick-Ass version of X-Men. It is what it is and I think Matthew will bring a freshness to it. He has a way of authoring movies, like you see in Layer Cake, Stardust and Kick-Ass, that nuanced outlook will be in X-Men because that’s just the way he is as a director. That’s just the way he works. I think all of the movies he’s done, where you expect him to turn right, he turns left.”
Matthew Vaughn Edits X-Men:First Class
Matthew Vaughn, director of the upcoming X-Men:First Class is going to have to edit parts of the film because some of the elements are too similar with Christopher Nolan‘s Inception.
For your information, removed sequence revolved around “dream-space combat,” and featured Professor X and other mutants fighting in the middle of the spinning rooms and “other physics-bending imagery.”
Vaughn explained: “I saw ‘Inception,’ which I loved…But my heart sank when I saw that a few of the ideas we had were up on the screen.
So it’s either leave it in and look as if you’re copying or change things. We completely ripped out about 12 pages of the script and the storyboards.”
