Amy Adams and Paul Giamatti to Join Rock of Ages
We already had a little chat about the upcoming Warner Bros’ Rock Of Ages adaptation of the Broadway musical for New Line Cinema, so by now you know that Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige and Alec Baldwin are all set to star in it.
But it looks that’s not all, because, according to the latest reports, Paul Giamatti and Amy Adams are in talks to join the cast as well.
Let us remind you that Chris D’Arienzo, the musical’s creator, wrote the screen adaptation with Adam Shankman and Justin Theroux doing a polish. Adam Shankman will also direct and choreograph the film, while Carl Levin, Matthew Weaver, Scott Prisand, Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Gibgot will produce.
Rock of Ages is set in the 1980s and filled with rock music from that decade (when we say that we mean classic ’80s tunes by Styx, REO Speedwagon, Journey, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison and Whitesnake).
Social Network, King’s Speech Aim for Oscars
The Social Network, a story about the prickly author of Facebook, and The King’s Speech, a saga of Queen Elizabeth II’s stammering father, are to be announced shortly, among likely nominees for Hollywood’s top prize, at Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
The 83rd Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 27, 2011, telecast live from the historic Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on ABC at 8PM ET.
The two films are the best-picture front-runners. With a best-drama win at the Golden Globes and top honors from key critics groups, “The Social Network” seems to have the edge. But “The King’s Speech” pulled off an upset over the weekend for the main prize at the Producers Guild of America Awards, whose winner often goes on to claim best picture at the Oscars.

Paramount Pictures have released a new movie trailer for The Fighter, which was broadcast on television during Sunday’s Mad Men season finale.

The Fighter Trailer
Today we have the first official trailer for David O. Russell‘s The Fighter. The drama stars Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams.
The Fighter tells the true story of Boston fighter “Irish” Micky Ward and how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by half-brother and his trainer Dicky Ecklund.
Ecklund was a journeyman fighter who sent Sugar Ray Leonard to the canvas in 1978. His career was derailed by drug addiction and a prison sentence. Upon his release, he convinced his younger brother, Ward – who had retired from boxing at 26 after losing four straight – to get back in the ring. Under Ecklund’s tutelage, Ward won the WBU Light Welterweight title and engaged in one of the greatest fight trilogies in history with Arturo Gatti.
Jamie Bell and Anthony Mackie Join Man on a Ledge
Jamie Bell (Jumper) and Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) are in talks to join Sam Worthington in the upcoming movie titled Man on a Ledge. And, that’s not all!
Lovely Amy Adams (that we all remember from Julie & Julia) is also being rumored as the possible candidate for the leading female role.
Ok, you must admit that this definitely looks great!
Man on a Ledge is the story that begins when an ex-cop-turned-con threatens to jump to his death from a Manhattan hotel rooftop.
Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen Join On The Road
Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen have joined the cast of Walter Salles’ film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s On The Road.
The movie already includes some great cast: Sam Riley, Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund. Sounds very good, we must admit, especially when we have a plot like this:
“Fans of Kerouac get the whole beautiful, groovy deal with this new recording of the radically hip novel that many consider the heart of the Beat movement. Poetic, open and raw, Kerouac’s prose lays out a cross-country adventure as experienced by Sal Paradise, an autobiographical character.

Leap Year Review

“Leap Year” tells the story of a successful working woman played by Amy Adams. Her job is to take upper class apartments and furnish them before the realtor starts shopping them. She is very good at her job and once the apartment is sold, she returns and removes all the furnishings. Her opinion is she is selling people a dream. She is also a dominating woman who believes that her strong will is enough to get her anything she wants. When her boyfriend fails to propose to her on the night she believes it is coming, she becomes depressed. Her absentee father (John Lithgow) pops back into her life after a lengthy absence and recounts how her grandmother proposed to her grandfather on Feb. 29 in a Leap Year, an old Irish tradition. She sets off to Dublin, where her boyfriend is on a business trip, with the intentions of proposing to him on Leap Year.
Anna (Adams) is a stereotypically overly organized woman, the type who wipes down the edge of the counter when sipping wine at a bar. Her boyfriend, Jeremy (Adam Scott), is an overworked cardiologist. They live by BlackBerry scheduling.
When Jeremy travels to Dublin, Ireland, for a convention, Anna decides to tag along later and, in an Irish tradition, surprise him by proposing marriage on Feb. 29 – Leap Day. Which might have been a better title, who knows…read more [AZ Central]
