Angelina Jolie As Evelyn A. Salt First Look

Posted by Fiona 3 March, 2009 Comments

Two first photos of Angelina Jolie on the Columbia Pictures set of “Salt,” has been revealed by USA Today.

Angelina Jolie In Salt

“Salt” originally was called “Edwin A. Salt” when the role was intended for Tom Cruise but now Jolie is in spy thriller as CIA operative Evelyn A. Salt who tries to clear her name after she is accused of being a Russian sleeper agent.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says it wasn’t simple to change “he” to “she” in the script, the character was literally changed from male to female. The name changed from Edwin to Evelyn A. Salt, and the title of the production shortened to just “Salt.”

“I had no idea how complex it would be,” di Bonaventura says. “We had to rethink the whole notion of how a man vs. a woman operates in the business world, in personal relationship and in friendships.”

A New Lara Croft Movie is in the Works

Posted by Allan Ford 28 January, 2009 Comments

Warner Bros. are in early development on a reboot of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft could soon be going on a new big-screen mission.

Paramount previously made the two movies based on the popular video game, but the rights have since reverted to Eidos. When WB upped its stake to 19.92% in Eidos in December, films rights to the property were included as part of the deal.

Lara Croft - Tomb Rider

Dan Lin who will produce the next Lara Croft movie, is also the producer behind Warners’ upcoming Guy Ritchie-directed “Sherlock Holmes” and “Terminator Salvation.”

The new project is expected to revamp the character and her mission and bear little resemblance to the original pictures. It will re-imagine the origins of the character, her love interest and the main villain.

Angelina Jolie played the part in 2001’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” and in the sequel “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life” in 2003. Both films were panned by critics, and Jolie was given a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress for her performances in the two movies.

The first pic, grossed a whopping $275 million worldwide, while the follow-up earned a more modest $157 million.

Angelina Jolie Is Spy In “Edwin A. Salt”

Posted by Fiona 13 October, 2008 Comments

Edwin A. Salt,” the film was supposed to star Tom Cruise as the title character, an CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy.

But now producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed to MTV that Angelina Jolie is in the movie.

“Jolie is the first person cast, and she is the most important person to be cast, too. It’s going to be a very exciting film, Phillip Noyce is directing it, and we are going to start in February. It’s a big spy movie on a big canvas with a lot of attitude.”

He also added: “How are we going to get out of this? Who is who? And all the great things you love in an intense spy movie. This has it, and a lot more attitude on top of it.”

We will probably know who is who in the next few months.

The Dark Knight Storyman David Goyer On Batman 3 Rumors

Posted by Fiona 7 October, 2008 Comments

Huge succeess for Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” brought in over $919 million (domestic and worldwide performance) for Warner Brothers, but also brought so much speculations and rumors about the (possible) sequel. So, it’s no surprise that everyone is trying to figure out the casting and talking about Batman 3.

We recently wrote about Johnny Depp’s reactions on rumors about his potential The Riddler role in also potential upcoming “The Dark Knight” sequel.

“It seems like it’d be a fun gig for a while, yeah,” Depp denied.

The same thing is with Philip Seymour Hoffman and role of The Penguin. He said that no one from Warner Brothers has given him a call:

“Some friend of mine told me he read that. First I heard of it”

Or that Angelina Jolie will take the role of Catwoman… OR that Cher is lining up for the same role!?

Finally, somebody has something to say:

It’s All B.S.

said “The Dark Knight” Screenwriter David Goyer.

Chris and I haven’t even talked about it. He quite understandably is taking a long, long vacation and wants to purge himself. We have mused here and there but I mean Chris is pretty much a one movie at a time kind of guy. I wish I could tell you more. There really isn’t anything to tell.” said Goyer.

If and when Chris is ready to talk - we’ll talk,” he promised.

So, this means that, for the present, there is nothing to announce about a third Batman movie from Nolan and company. No villains are set. No casting has been set. Nolan hasn’t even officially signed on for the third movie yet. There isn’t anything official.
