Angelina Jolie in Talks to Star in Ridley Scott’s “Gucci”
According to Variety, Angelina Jolie is in talks with Ridley Scott to play Patrizia Reggiano in his upcoming film “Gucci,” a true-life drama about murder, decadence and the turbulent relations in and around the Gucci fashion dynasty. Scott has approached his “Body of Lies” star Leonardo DiCaprio to play Maurizio, but he is not attached at this point.
The studio is looking to hire a scribe to re-write the drama that recaptures the glamorous days of the Gucci family dynasty in the 1970s and ’80s, when the family was selling $500 million in product annually. Squabbles hobbled the clan until Maurizio, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, came out on top of a power struggle to run the family business. Just when he was about to reestablish the brand name by debuting a line designed by newcomer — and now film director — Tom Ford, Maurizio was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995.

While it was rumored last week, IGN has now confirmed that Angelina Jolie will be replacing Charlize Theron and Variety now says that Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck is tipped to direct Spyglass thriller “The Tourist” which is set to start production in February 2010.
“The Tourist” will be the first movie for von Donnersmarck since the German director’s 2006 breakout The Lives of Others, which won the Academy Award for foreign-language film.

Cruise has been considering the lead since August 2008 and Theron joined up that November. Production was supposed to start in March, but was delayed for a number of reasons. Cruise left to do the untitled James Mangold project “Witchita” with Cameron Diaz.
Now things are scheduled to start again in January 2010.
Angelina Jolie May Return for Wanted 2
Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov recently spoke to RIA Novosti and said that work on Wanted 2 will begin next month, and revealing that he found a way to bring back Angelina Jolie’s character, who died in the first movie.

Angelina Jolie As Evelyn A. Salt First Look
Two first photos of Angelina Jolie on the Columbia Pictures set of “Salt,” has been revealed by USA Today.
“Salt” originally was called “Edwin A. Salt” when the role was intended for Tom Cruise but now Jolie is in spy thriller as CIA operative Evelyn A. Salt who tries to clear her name after she is accused of being a Russian sleeper agent.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says it wasn’t simple to change “he” to “she” in the script, the character was literally changed from male to female. The name changed from Edwin to Evelyn A. Salt, and the title of the production shortened to just “Salt.”
“I had no idea how complex it would be,” di Bonaventura says. “We had to rethink the whole notion of how a man vs. a woman operates in the business world, in personal relationship and in friendships.”
A New Lara Croft Movie is in the Works
Warner Bros. are in early development on a reboot of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft could soon be going on a new big-screen mission.
Paramount previously made the two movies based on the popular video game, but the rights have since reverted to Eidos. When WB upped its stake to 19.92% in Eidos in December, films rights to the property were included as part of the deal.
Dan Lin who will produce the next Lara Croft movie, is also the producer behind Warners’ upcoming Guy Ritchie-directed “Sherlock Holmes” and “Terminator Salvation.”
The new project is expected to revamp the character and her mission and bear little resemblance to the original pictures. It will re-imagine the origins of the character, her love interest and the main villain.
Angelina Jolie played the part in 2001’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” and in the sequel “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life” in 2003. Both films were panned by critics, and Jolie was given a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress for her performances in the two movies.
The first pic, grossed a whopping $275 million worldwide, while the follow-up earned a more modest $157 million.

“Edwin A. Salt,” the film was supposed to star Tom Cruise as the title character, an CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy.
But now producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed to MTV that Angelina Jolie is in the movie.
“Jolie is the first person cast, and she is the most important person to be cast, too. It’s going to be a very exciting film, Phillip Noyce is directing it, and we are going to start in February. It’s a big spy movie on a big canvas with a lot of attitude.”
He also added: “How are we going to get out of this? Who is who? And all the great things you love in an intense spy movie. This has it, and a lot more attitude on top of it.”
We will probably know who is who in the next few months.
