“Spread,” which also stars Anne Heche, Margarita Levieva, Sebastian Stan, Sonia Rockwell, Maria Conchita Alonso and Hart Bochner is a fresh, funny and racy look at the trials and tribulations of sleeping your way to a life of privilege in Los Angeles. Comic and karmic, the film is an “immorality tale” about a gorgeous guy who gives women what they want in order to live exactly as he likes.
In “Spread,” Nikki (Ashton Kutcher) isn’t a gigolo. He’s a sexual grifter and a fun-loving, freeloading hipster who understands his greatest assets are his looks and sexual prowess, which he uses to charm his way into the hearts of the city’s richest women while enjoying their lifestyle. But then he meets a gorgeous waitress his own age named Heather (Margarita Levieva)…
The movie directed by David Mackenzie (”Young Adam,” “Asylum,” “Hallam Foe”) from the story and the script by Jason Dean Hall premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival will hit the theaters on August 14, 2009.

Plot summary: Set in modern day Los Angeles, Spread is a hard biting story about a high-end lethario, Nikki (Ashton Kutcher), who has slept his way into a life of privilege. He shares his secrets with us as he hosts parties and beds scores of women, all while living it up at the Hollywood Hills home of a middle-aged female attorney, Samantha (Anne Heche). Everything is going swimmingly until Nikki meets a gorgeous waitress named Heather (Margarita Levieva), who, unbeknownst to him, is playing the same game that he is. As the truth of their life unravels, they find themselves sexually charged by a game of one-upsmanship that has them dining at fine restaurants and crashing posh parties, until the truth of their lives forces them to choose between love and money.
“Spread” is directed by David Mackenzie (Young Adam, Asylum, Hallam Foe) and is scheduled to hit theaters on August 14th, in limited release.

Nikki gets a free place to live, fantastic gifts, “A”-list access and plenty of sex. The women get to feel young, beautiful and utterly fulfilled in the bedroom. It’s a mutually beneficial situation. Nikki’s latest conquest is Samantha (Anne Heche): a stunning middle-aged lawyer who gives him more than he’s ever had before.
But then he meets a gorgeous waitress his own age named Heather (Margarita Levieva). She comes to visit Nikki at Samantha’s house while Samantha is out of town, sees what an incredible place it is and comes to the mistaken conclusion it’s his. Unbeknownst to Nikki, Heather lives by playing the same game.
Scottish Director David MacKenzie Joins ‘Stain in the Snow’
Director David MacKenzie (”Hallam Foe“) has boarded the psychological drama “Stain In the Snow,” an adaptation of the 1948 novel by Georges Simenon, which Germany’s Studio Hamburg International is producing.Mackenzie will move to “Stain” after finishing his U.S. feature film debut, the sex comedy “Spread” starring Aston Kutcher and Anne Heche.
Studio Hamburg is currently developing the script together with Chorion, the UK-based executors of the Simenon estate. Shooting on the $11 million- $14 million pictures is planned for 2009 in Germany.
Studio Hamburg’s Malte Grunert and Sytze van der Laan will produce with Chorion receiving an executive producer credit.
Set in an unnamed country obviously based on Nazi-occupied France, the novel is about a naive boy who descends into psychosis and depravity. It was previously adapted for the screen by Luis Saslavsky as “La Neige etait sale” (1952).
Simenon was one of the most prolific and acclaimed writers of the 20th century. His books have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide and dozens have been made into films.
Anne Heche Replaces J.J. Leigh In ‘Spread’
Anne Heche has replaced Jennifer Jason Leigh in new indie sex comedy Spread.Leigh withdrew from the project last week amid rumours that she is expecting a baby with director husband Noah Baumbach, claims The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie stars Ashton Kutcher as a serial womaniser, with Heche playing one of his old flames.
Kutcher’s production company Katalyst is producing the film, with Scottish director David MacKenzie (Hallam Foe) at the helm.
It is scheduled to begin shooting in LA immediately.
