Synopsis: “Spread” is a fresh, funny and racy look at the trials and tribulations of sleeping your way to a life of privilege in Los Angeles. Comic and karmic, the film is an “immorality tale” about a gorgeous guy who gives women what they want in order to live exactly as he likes.

Nikki gets a free place to live, fantastic gifts, “A”-list access and plenty of sex. The women get to feel young, beautiful and utterly fulfilled in the bedroom. It’s a mutually beneficial situation. Nikki’s latest conquest is Samantha (Anne Heche): a stunning middle-aged lawyer who gives him more than he’s ever had before.
But then he meets a gorgeous waitress his own age named Heather (Margarita Levieva). She comes to visit Nikki at Samantha’s house while Samantha is out of town, sees what an incredible place it is and comes to the mistaken conclusion it’s his. Unbeknownst to Nikki, Heather lives by playing the same game.
Ashton Kutcher To Star In “Five Killers”
Ashton Kutcher will star in “Five Killers,” an action comedy, which Robert Luketic will direct for Lionsgate.
Robert Luketic is known for “21” and “The Ugly Truth” as director.
Kutcher will play a former hit man whose life is turned upside down because someone from his past has paid a group of killers to bump him off.
Lionsgate acquired the project as a spec script by Bob DeRosa, and Ted Griffin is doing a rewrite.
“Five Killers” will begin production early next year.
Ashton Kutcher to star in “Father’s Day”
Ashton Kutcher is set to produce and star in Columbia Pictures’ upcoming multigenerational fatherhood comedy “Like Father,” says Variety. (The Hollywood Reporter claims it’s “Father’s Day“)
The film will be scripted by Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson.
The story revolves around a father and son who never got along but coincidentally have baby sons at the same time and are forced to go through the fatherhood experience together.
Kutcher most recently co-starred with Cameron Diaz in Tom Vaughan’s “What Happens in Vegas.” He will next be seen alongside Michelle Pfeiffer in David Hollander’s indie drama “Personal Effects.”
Actor Dennis Farina Arrested
Actor Dennis Farina is apologizing for his arrest at Los Angeles International Airport. A loaded gun was found in his carry on luggage. The one-time “Law and Order” star, who’s in the new Ashton Kutcher-Cameron Diaz comedy “What Happens in Vegas,” says in a statement, his own “stupidity” put him in “this embarrassing situation.” He says he forgot the .22 caliber handgun was in his luggage. Farina is free on bail, facing a felony charge because the weapon wasn’t registered. He’s a former Chicago police officer.
LAX police run into this problem–of passengers forgetting they have guns in their carry-on luggage–regularly, Holcomb said. Most of the roughly 10 incidents a month involve police officers traveling as civilians.
“People don’t get it,” Holcomb said. “When you go to an airport, the only people that can carry a gun are federal agents.”
That’s not to say high-profile travelers haven’t tried to board with weapons.
Rapper Snoop Dogg pleaded guilty in 2007 after screeners at John Wayne Airport in Orange County found a collapsible baton in his luggage. Although the rapper said it was a prop for a music video, authorities deemed it otherwise.
David Huckabee, son of former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, received a one-year suspended sentence last year after he was caught at a Little Rock, Ark. airport with a loaded Glock pistol in his bag.
“It was a silly mistake,” he said at the time.
And the lead singer of the rock band Incubus, Brandon Boyd, was arrested in 2004 for carrying a switchblade in his bag while trying to board a plane at New York’s La Guardia International Airport.
Iron Man Soars Above Competition at North American Box Office
Iron Man battered the competition for the second consecutive weekend as an estimated $50.5m haul through Paramount Pictures raised the running total to $177.1m.The result consolidated the Marvel Studios adaptation as the season’s first bona fide blockbuster and relegated new openers Speed Racer from Warner Bros and What Happens In Vegas from Fox to second and third, respectively.
Box office was up 21% against the same weekend last year as the top 12 films combined for $128m. Year-on-year 2008 still trails 2007 by some 2.5% at this stage in the game.
Speed Racer disappointed on $20.2m. The family film was adapted from the 1960s Japanese anime television series by Andy and Larry Wachowski in their first outing as directors since The Matrix Revolutions opened in 2003.
Emile Hirsch stars as a talented racing driver in a high profile cast alongside Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon and Matthew Fox.
Opening in third place on $20m was the romantic comedy What Happens In Vegas with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. By the time actual results are confirmed on Monday, What Happens In Vegas and Speed Racer may switch places. Continue Reading…
