First Review of ‘The Dark Knight’ Online
It looks like the first review of the highly anticipated summer blockbuster The Dark Knight has hit the web! Thanks to IESB reader Dave for giving us the heads up on this one. Jett over at Batman-on-Film found a review online, although written completely in Portuguese, and had a reader translate it roughly.

I say roughly because it’s kind of hard to follow, here’s an excerpt,
The cast is awesome, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman stealing scenes in which all are present. Maggie Gyllenhaal fantastic replacing Katie Holmes and Aaron Eckhart as a great surprise as the politician with a heart of gold whose personality changes after a horrible accident. Another surprise is Eric Roberts as the mobster he knows so well how to do. Christian Bale solid as ever, cool since Bruce Wayne is a rich playboy and Batman is the opposite. The film plays a lot with this duality, all the characters are complex, has ambiguities, very interesting and delicate here.
For the complete review, with spoilers, some pretty major ones that I did not post here, head over to Batman-On-Film and tell Jett IESB sent ya!

‘The Dark Knight’ Update!
Warner Bros. has released their Summer Preview 2008 kit and along with it comes some new official details from The Dark Knight! The new official synopsis reads as follows:
The Dark Knight” reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman’s war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.
I know… it’s not much. Everyone is waiting for a new trailer…or maybe new lea*ed material !?
Jack Nicholson On Heath Ledger’s Death: “I Told Him So”
Ledger – who has taken over Nicholson’s role as the Joker in the latest instalment of the Batman franchise – was pronounced dead in New York on Tuesday following a suspected drugs overdose.
Entertainmentwise has learnt that Nicholson – who is in London promoting The Bucket List – was confronted by a fan outside the Wolseley restaurant, who asked the veteran actor what he thought about the 28-year-old’s sudden passing.
“I told him so,” the 70-year-old replied cryptically.
Ledger’s body was discovered by a maid in his Manhattan apartment on Tuesday night.
The actor was reportedly found naked in his bed by the maid and the masseuse with pills scattered across his body.

Finally! The first official trailer of The Dark Knight, highly anticipated Nolan version of the Batman saga.
The Dark Knight Trailer, First Six Minutes
Mere days after a godawful cam quality version of The Dark Knight teaser popped up, now the entire first six minutes of The Dark Knight has popped up online, predictably, in crappy camcorder format.
If you genuinely can’t wait to see the opening bank robbery sequence in all it’s Chris Nolan theatrical glory and you’d much rather watch it at a crappy angle with godawful, almost unintelligible sound, then enjoy below. Personally I’d rather you waited, but some people have no standards, patience or morals. But that’s okay because it’ll probably be about 30 minutes before the mighty WB gets the video pulled.

Batman Viral-Marketing Mysteries, Dewey Cox Tighty-Whities Have Us Stoked For New Flicks
‘National Treasure: Book of Secrets,’ ‘Mad Money,’ ‘At World’s End’ DVD also getting hyped through unconventional means.
Does a movie feel more realistic after you’ve solved its mysteries on your Mac? Are you more inclined to care about a character once they’ve mailed you their underwear? Would you like to buy a subscription to a fictional newspaper, promote a beverage that doesn’t exist or mourn a woman who never lived?
In the near-decade since “The Blair Witch Project” changed the rules of movie promotion, lines between the silver screen and the simple life have become increasingly blurred. Phony Web sites, interactive games, movie props and mysteries now appear wherever a potential moviegoer might be. Whether viral marketing is trying to approach ticket buyers directly, or simply get reporters like me to talk about the films (argh, mission accomplished!), 2007 gave us some of the most memorable campaigns yet.
