‘Battle in Seattle’ Domestic Trailer and Photos
Largely successful fictionalization of the peaceful-turned-violent grassroots protest at the 1999 WTO conference.
Stuart Townsend’s “Battle in Seattle” domestic trailer has been unveiled. The film’s impressive cast is comprised of Woody Harrelson, Charlize Theron, Andre Benjamin, Michelle Rodriguez, Ray Liotta, Joshua Jackson and Channing Tatum.
Based on one of the most incendiary political uprisings in a generation, Battle in Seattle takes an in-depth look at the five days that rocked the world in 1999 as tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in protest of the World Trade Organization (WTO). What began as a peaceful protest intended to stop the WTO talks quickly escalated into a full-scale riot and eventual State of Emergency that squared off peaceful and unarmed protestors against the Seattle Police Department and the National Guard.
‘Battle in Seattle’ International Trailer
Largely successful fictionalization of the peaceful-turned-violent grassroots protest at the 1999 WTO conference.
“Battle in Seattle” is a dramatic freeze-frame of five days in 1999 when tens of thousands of activists took to the streets of Seattle and virtually shut down a meeting of the World Trade Organization in protest of globalization and environmental damage by multinational conglomerates and powerful governments.
The film is something of a rarity for an American political film. While it makes no bones about where its sympathies lie, these fictional stories show a genuine fascination with the role politics plays on both sides of such confrontations and how things can spin out of control with no single person to blame.
