Magnolia Pictures and Magnet Releasing have released the first red-band trailer for dark comedy God Bless America, which is directed by Bobcat Goldthwait (World’s Greatest Dad) and stars Joel Murray and Tara Lynne Barr.

The latest film from Bobcat Goldthwait who became known for his unique brand of comedy, which combines elements of political satire and often bizarre or somewhat unsettling black comedy, premiered as a Midnight Madness selection at last fall’s Toronto Film Festival.
New comedy God Bless America, starring Joel Murray and Tara Lynne Barr was picked up by Magnolia Pictures and Magnet Releasing debuted the first official poster.

It was revealed last week on The Adam Carolla Show that Bobcat Goldthwait has found his next project, backed by Darko Pictures. Comedy named God Bless America, involves over-indulged teenagers and a binge killing.
Comedian Goldthwait, who rose to stardom in the 80′s with mad characters like Zed in the Police Academy franchise and One Crazy Summer‘s Egg Stork, has proven himself to be a creative talent behind the lens as well, helming the darkly comic stunning success. Re this dark road trip that Goldthwait might soon be taking, the comedian stated:
There’s a middle aged guy and he’s at home watching a show like My Super Sweet 16, you know that show?…there’s always a horrible kid who gets everything she wants…”I wanted an Escalade! You ruined everything!” So he’s sitting at home watching a show like that, and he drives 400 miles and kills that girl – spoiler alert! – and then her friend, well not a friend, a classmate, is going “did you kill Chloe?” and he doesn’t say anything, and she goes “awesome.” So then they get in this stolen Camaro and drive around and kill people. We’re hoping for a Christmas release.”

Starring Robin Williams and Daryl Sabara as father and son duo, this dark comedy revolves around Lance Clayton (Williams), a high school poetry teacher who dreams of becoming a famous writer. It picks up a lesson that the things you want most may not be the things that make you happy, and that being lonely is not necessarily the same as being alone.

Alexie Gilmore and Robin Williams have signed to star in “World’s Greatest Dad“, a new black comedy.Bobcat Goldthwait has written the script and will helm the film.
Lance (Robin Williams) plays a single father and high school poetry teacher who finds his son dead after an masturbation accident. In an effort to give his son dignity in death and spare the family shame he pens a suicide note that is accidentally leaked to the student paper.
