Twilight Deleted Scenes
Director Catherine Hardwicke earlier talked about 12 deleted and extended scenes from her “Twilight” movie.
A special deleted scenes from the movie will be on “Twilight” DVD and Blu-ray which is due out on March 17th, 2009.
Hardwicke said that will be a separate section on the DVD and not an extended edition.
“We put together all the deleted scenes and extended scenes, there’s quite a few, like 12 or something like that. And then I made some montages of some other crazy elements, like more vampire kiss, biting. And more human hijinks. And I made a pretty wild music video, like a remix of Bella’s Lullaby and I did some pretty trippy things that you may like.”

“Twilight: Director’s Notebook” Coming Next Month
“Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke is releasing a new book about life on the “Twilight” set – “Twilight: Director’s Notebook – The Story of How We Made the Movie“. The book will retail for $17.99 and hit stores on March 17th 2009, just in time for the March 21 release of Twilight on DVD.
The book will take a look inside Hardwicke’s actual production notebook, and according to the publisher, the book will take a look at “inside secrets on casting, location scouting and wardrobe to storyboard sketches, behind-the-scenes photographs, personal notes about Catherine’s favorite scenes and much more.
Catherine Hardwicke said:
“With this book, I tried to show fans and future directors some of the process that the crew and I went through filming Twilight,” said Hardwicke. “My challenge was to translate Stephenie’s powerful book and make you feel what she makes you feel when you read her works.”
Last december, Hardwicke pulled out of directing the movie’s eagerly-anticipated sequel “New Moon.”
The Golden Compass director Chris Weitz will now helm the film, scheduled for release in November.
Chris Weitz Will Direct New Moon
“Twilight” has generated domestic grosses of more than $150 million and another $50 million overseas. The vampire thriller’s a ready-made franchise for Summit with the four books in Stephenie Meyer’s series, already selling more than 17 million copies worldwide.
It’s official now: Chris Weitz will direct Twilight” sequel, “New Moon” from the script by Melissa Rosenberg (“Twilight” screenwriter). Summit Entertainment made the announcement Saturday, less than a week after it parted ways with “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke.
Here’s the studio’s official synopsis for the sequel: “In ‘New Moon,’ Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested. Production on ‘New Moon’ is scheduled to begin in the coming months and the studio is planning to release the film towards the end of 2009 or early 2010.”
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart play the leads in the film (of course).
“I am honored to have been entrusted with shepherding ‘New Moon’ from the page to the screen. The extraordinary world that Stephenie has created has millions of fans, and it will be my duty to protect on their behalf the characters, themes and story they love. This is not a task to be taken lightly, and I will put every effort into realizing a beautiful film to stand alongside a beautiful book,” Chris Weitz said.
Chris Weitz To Direct Twilight Sequel New Moon?
Summit Entertainment is wasting no time in finding a new director for “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon.” The studio has officially announced they will be moving ahead with the sequel without “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke.
The problem that stalled negotiations was that Hardwicke had strong opinions about what to do with the next installment, and so did Summit Entertainment.
Nikki Finke at DeadlineHollywoodDaily has a source that informs her the offer for the sequel is going out to Chris Weitz.
Yes, he’s had tremendous success working with tweens and teens: “About A Boy” as director and writer, “American Pie” as producer and uncredited director. But Chris Weitz also did “The Golden Compass” (as writer and director), and my source says Summit Entertainment liked the look of that even if it didn’t heat up the domestic box office (but did better overseas).
Despite this, Nikki Finke says that Chris Weitz is being tapped because he is friends with Summit’s president of production Eric Feig.
The source tells me Weitz is “still considering” the offer to helm “New Moon” and possibly also “Eclipse” if the sequel and threequel movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s series of vampire books are made back-to-back.
“Twilight” Director Catherine Hardwicke Won’t do Sequel “New Moon”
Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the recent hit “Twilight,” has officially announced they will be moving ahead with the sequel, “New Moon,” without director Catherine Hardwicke.
From the trades:
Summit Entertainment has wasted no time moving ahead with the next installment in Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling “Twilight” series, “New Moon.” But in an unusual move after the successful launch of a franchise that has already generated $138.6 million, the upstart distrib is not bringing director Catherine Hardwicke back to direct the picture. Summit and Hardwicke cite Summit’s wish to rush the movie into production as one reason for their split. Summit wants to release the picture, which will demand substantial CGI work, by the end of 2009 or the start of 2010. A former production designer, Hardwicke wanted more prep time.
“Twilight” scripter Melissa Rosenberg handed in a draft of “New Moon” the weekend that “Twilight” opened. Hardwicke wanted more time to work on it; Summit announced it was going ahead with “New Moon” on November 22, with no director attached. Negotiations lasted two weeks before Hardwicke formally passed on the film Saturday.
As word spread through Hollywood agencies that the talks might not result in Hardwicke’s return, reports surfaced that Summit was checking out other directors for the “Twilight” franchise while they insisted they were still negotiating with Hardwicke, who delivered the biggest opening weekend ever for a woman. (CAA denies that they were soliciting other directors.) The movie is still going strong as the director and cast promote it overseas; it came in second this weekend with $13.2 million, grossing a total $138.6 million.
“Twilight” Premiere And Reviews
For many of “Twilight” fans, the long-awaited premiere of “Twilight” is the biggest event of the year, of course. With nearly 2,000 shows already sold out, Summit Entertainment’s teen vampire romance “Twilight” is looking more like a studio blockbuster than some of the blockbusters.
“Twilight” has whipped up such a frenzy among tween and teenage girls that advance ticket sales are the biggest for any film since “The Dark Knight.” – Variety
“Twilight,” the big screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s novel opened this Friday. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke from a script by Melissa Rosenberg, the Summit release stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Cam Cigandet, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and Ashley Greene.
Seems most of the major outlets have published reviews, and they’re quite positive, there are also lots of disappointment.

“Twilight” is an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn’t expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she’s ever met. Intelligent and witty, he sees straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than a mountain lion, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands – and he hasn’t aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he’s immortal. But he doesn’t have fangs, and he doesn’t drink human blood; Edward and his family are unique among vampires in their lifestyle choice. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for – a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward & Bella do when James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi) and Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), the Cullens’ mortal vampire enemies, come to town, looking for her?
The film is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson , Taylor Lautner Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Cam Gigandet and Anna Kendrick. Continue Reading…
