By Fiona | Aug 12, 2010 | Movie News (0) Comment

David Cronenberg‘s Eastern Promises 2 is coming, and it’s definitely not a surprise, since the director revealed his plans about the sequel back in March, when we also learned that Cronenberg has already had meetings with Viggo Mortensen about reprising his Nikolai role.

Vincent Cassel and Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises

But today, we’re here to report that Vincent Cassel confirmed that he will be returning (as Kirill) for the sequel as well!

In an interview with ComingSoon, Vincent Cassel said:

“I sure hope it happens. There’s a script, David Cronenberg wants to do it. The script is really good, so hopefully it’s going to go.

I think David wants to make another film before, but whenever they’re ready, I told them, ‘I’m here’.

David Cronenberg to Direct As She Climbed Across the Table

By Fiona | Jun 24, 2010 | Movie News (0) Comment

As She Climbed Across the TableAs She Climbed Across the Table, maybe this title doesn’t sound familiar, but now, when we have a rumor that David Cronenberg is attached to direct a film based on this 1997 novel by Jonathan Lethem, we have no doubt you’re going to remember it!

As usual (with Cronenberg’s name involved in some project) this is not going to be some easy story. As the matter of fact here’s a pretty weird plot that we managed to get:

“Particle physics, false vacuum bubbles, an alternate universe-this is the stuff of Jonathan Lethem’s novel As She Climbed Across the Table. The tale echoes Alice in Wonderland in its mad tumble through a rearranged reality.

Narrator Phillip Engstrand is a university professor who has made a career out of studying academic environments. Engstrand is in love with Alice Coombs, a particle physicist engaged in a bold attempt to replicate the origins of the universe. The result of the experiment is Lack, a very selective black hole that sucks some things into its void-a cat, a pair of socks, a strawberry-and rejects others, namely, a love-struck Alice.

Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard In Cosmopolis

By Fiona | May 16, 2010 | Movie News (0) Comment

Marion CotillardColin Farrell and Marion Cotillard in one movie? Sounds good.

Well, guess what! That David Cronenberg adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo, titled Cosmopolis is finally coming. Farrell and Cotillard will play husband and wife and we will have a chance to follow them during a period of 24 hours where this gorgeous Irish actor, in a role of an asset manager, loses all his wealth.

We did a little research about DeLillo’s novel and here’s how they describe it: “Most of the action takes place inside a “prousted” (cork-lined) stretch limo, as the reclusive financial wizard Eric Packer is chauffeured across Manhattan for a haircut.

Thanks to a presidential visit, antiglobalization demonstrations, and a celebrity funeral, this journey takes up most of the day. Stuck in traffic, Packer anxiously monitors the value of the yen on the limo’s computer. Using the car as his office, he summons advisors from nearby shops and restaurants.

His physician gives him a rubber-gloved physical exam in the back seat as Packer discusses imminent financial ruin with his broker and angry crowds block the streets.”

Viggo MortensenThe Talking Cure – it already sounds like a good title, especially if you know that story includes two very well known names like Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung.

You had a chance to read about this new project, but some things changed in a meanwhile, mostly those that referred to a possible cast…

For almost three years we knew the fact that David Cronenberg is more than interested in Christopher Hampton‘s play The Talking Cure, and was preparing it as his new project.
