Pandorum Review
Now in theaters everywhere is Pandorum, the third film by Christian Alvart, yet the second to hit theaters – a coincidence or maybe something a bit more telling? While Pandorum is far from a bad movie, it’s so incredibly generic that it’s hard to recommend to anyone outside genre fans looking forward to seeing it… read more [Bloody Disgusting]
The film starts with two space crew members Bower (Ben Foster) and Payton (Dennis Quaid) waking up from a multi-year hyper-sleep to discover that the ship they are on is dying in power resources. Neither of them can remember the mission due to the fact that they have been sleeping for so long which has the side effect of mild to severe memory loss. Bower volunteers to try to get to the ship’s core reactor up and running as it comes on and off to give the ship spurts of power. Bower and Payton both realize that this must be done to get anywhere as their doesn’t seem to be anyone answering their lines of communication… read more [We Are Movie Geeks]
German Pandorum Poster
Overture Films has released this new German poster for their upcoming sci-fi horror-thriller “Pandorum.”
In “Pandorum,” actors, Dennis Quaid (Traffic, Far from Heaven, Vantage Point) and Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma, Alpha Dog), join Cam Gigandet (Never Back Down, Twilight, The Unborn), Cung Le (Tekken, Fighting), newcomer Antje Traue and director Christian Alvart (Antibodies) to tell the terrifying story of two crew members stranded on a spacecraft who quickly realize they are not alone. Science fiction/horror film is written by Travis Milloy.
Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. It’s pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the spacecraft. They can’t remember anything – who are they, what is their mission? The only way out of the chamber is a dark and narrow airshaft. Corporal Bower (Foster), the younger of the two, crawls inside, while the other, Lt. Payton (Quaid), stays behind for guidance on a radio transmitter. As Bower ventures deeper and deeper into the ship, he begins to uncover a terrifying reality. Slowly the spacecraft’s shocking and deadly secrets come unraveled, and the astronauts realize that the survival of mankind hinges on their actions.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Review
G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra is a lad’s fantasy, the high-tech, big budget cinematic equivalent of blowing up G.I. Joe dolls with M-80s in the backyard. And perhaps that’s as it should be. Since Paramount declined to screen the movie for the press ahead of time, like most critics I paid for a ticket and saw G.I. Joe with its intended audience — a bunch of guys between 20 and 35, with nothing better to do on a Friday afternoon than watch stuff go kaboom. From their enthusiastic response, I’d say that they got exactly what they paid for, and more.

Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Said Taghmaoui: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
“The new action movie isn’t as bad as you think. It’s much, much worse… ‘G.I. Joe’ is like watching fireworks with a blindfold on: it’s deafening and you feel under attack. The story makes no sense-why does the Eiffel Tower topple over after being covered in sparkling slime? And worst of all: Sienna Miller and Channing Tatum, a charismatic guy whom the New York Times once compared to Marlon Brando, have the chemistry of two ice cubes…read more [NewsWeek]
I feel no particular affection or nostalgia for the “G.I. Joe” brand-name. Yes, I’m well-aware that the toy hero has been around since well before my birth, that he’s had several resurgences over the years, and that he and his massive team of friends and foes were huge cartoon stars when I was growing up in the 1980s. Yet I’m neither a fan nor a hater of the property, and so I approached his latest incarnation, the big-budget live action* film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra with no baggage whatsoever, aside from that “feelm critic” valise that is a permanent fixture inside my brain. My early verdict is this: Find the asterisked word in this paragraph, and that’s all you need to know…read more [Cinematical]

Official “Legion” Poster
UPDATE 8/12/2009/ Watch a red band trailer and Hi – Res images from the “Legion“
The “Legion” panel was part of Sony’s presence at Comic-Con ‘09 and the film brought out stars Paul Bettany, Doug Jones, Tyrese Gibson, and Adrianne Palicki, along with writer/director Scott Stewart.
So, the first official poster for the upcoming horror/action movie featuring Paul Bettany as the Archangel Michael holding a knife and a machinegun – armed and angelic, has been unveiled. Stewart had a great way to describe the movie: “Angels with machineguns.” Take a look at the poster below.
After a terrifying biblical apocalypse descends upon the world, the Archangel Michael is the only one standing between mankind and an apocalypse, after God loses faith in humanity. Michael, along with some humans in a diner in the middle of nowhere, has to protect the messiah growing inside one of the diner’s waitress.
Scott Stewart, a former special effects man, brought along an extended trailer for the movie, the first ever footage of “Legion” anywhere.
…We see Paul Bettany’s Archangel Michael in silhouette, his wings furled behind his back. Cut to Michael in the rain, screaming as he cuts off his wings with a knife. Blood pools in the rain and a runed silver collar falls to the floor. As he leaves he’s confronted by a pair of cops who try to stop him. Bad ass angel that he is, he takes them out with barrels blazing. Afterwards one of the officers is still standing, his eyes turn black and his teeth sharpen. It’s another angel who threatens Michael, “you can’t protect the child.” it says.
…Inside the diner, a heavily pregnant waitress serves coffee while Dennis Quaid stands by the counter. As the waitress pours for an elderly lady she’s asked when her baby’s due. Soon, she says. “That’s too bad, your fucking baby’s going to burn!”
