New “Friday the 13th” Remake Photos

Here’s the new images from the Michael Bay produced, Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder) directed “Friday the 13th” movie.

“I think we tried to take elements from all three of those movies to create one reboot of Friday the 13th and I think we take the elements where you will see Jason put the hockey mask on for the first time - how and why,” producer Brad Fuller revealed. “And you’ll see him actually do it not just come out with it.”

Unstoppable masked killer Jason Voorhees returns to kill more promiscuous teens in this contemporary remake of the classic horror movie. Whitney (Amanda Righetti), Jenna (Danielle Panabaker), Trent (Travis VanWinkle), and the other counslers at Camp Crystal Lake find themselves hunted down by a machete weilding maniac known as Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears). “Friday the 13th” Remake: First View and Clip

MTV News got the chance to visit the set of the upcoming “Friday the 13th” remake, bringing back a video that features shots of the Camp Crystal Lake sign and the creepy mask that Jason Voorhees will wear. In the original films, Jason did not put on the mask till the third installment, but in the new movie, fans will actually get to see him put the mask on and the entire process that goes with that.

Filming is underway by director Marcus Nispell, based on a screenplay by JvF scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The film stars Jared Padalecki, Amanda Righetti, Danielle Panabaker, Travis van Winkle, Aaron Yoo, Jonathan Sadowski, Willa Ford, Derek Mears and Arlen Escarpeta.

Friday the 13th opens February 13th, 2009, which is, of course, a Friday.

Friday the 13th (Remake) First Photo

The first photo from the upcoming 2009 remake of Friday the 13th has popped online.

All of these persons will have a role in the new Friday the 13th Remake: Julianna Guill, Derek Mears, Jared Padalecki, Amanda Righetti, Danielle Panabaker, Willa Ford, Travis Van Winkle, Aaron Yoo, Nick Mennell, Nana Visitor, Ryan Hansen and Jonathan Sadowski.

“Friday the 13th,” directed by Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder) is scheduled to hit theaters on February 13th, 2009.

New ‘Friday the 13th’ Serial Killer - Jason Voorhees

The depicter of serial slasher Jason Voorhees in the horror remake “Friday the 13th” has reportedly been found. According to Bloody-Disgusting, the actor who is credited as Chameleon in “The Hills Have Eyes II“, Derek Mears, has been in final negotiations to star as the killer with the trademark of hockey mask.

If he indeed joins the cast of the New Line Cinema’s project, he will become the latest actor to star as the machete murderer. Previously, Voorhees has been brought to the screen by many other actors, including Ari Lehman and Ken Kirzinger. Kirzinger has appeared as Voorhees in “Freddy vs Jason“.

Earlier, it has been reported that the star of “Supernatural” series Jared Padalecki has been tapped to play the lead character that has yet to be named in the remake film. Directed by Marcus Nispel, the film is set to start its shooting on April 21 in Austin and to scare the moviegoers on Friday, February 13, 2009.

Mears is known for his stunt works in various feature films, including “Blades of Glory“, “Zathura” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest“. He also has had minor role in 2005 horror thriller “Cursed” and several other films. His latest stunt works was in the highly anticipated action adventure “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull“.
