The Avengers in 3D
Surprise, surprise! Get ready for The Avengers in 3D!
And no, we’re not talking about convertion, because Joss Whedon will actually be shooting the whole thing using 3D equipment as opposed to converting the film once it has been shot.
Ok, at least that is a good news, especially after we heard Marvel’s plans for Thor…
This will be the first time Marvel Studios has actually shot a film in the popular 3D format. Director Whedon and the studio have hinted for some time that The Avengers would be presented in 3D.
Mark Ruffalo as Hulk in The Avengers?
Mark Ruffalo is in talks to play Hulk, the green giant, in the upcoming Marvel’s big screen spectacle The Avengers.
No big surprise, since we already know Edward Norton will not be the part of this project (you should check out our previous report about that), and that guys from Marvel mentioned they are “looking to announce a name actor who is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.” Ruffalo could be the perfect choice indeed…
Joss Whedon (best known for creating Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will direct Marvel Studios The Avengers, movie that already stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
So, if Ruffalo does accept this offer, he will likely be “committing to a multiple-film deal, including at least two Avengers sequels, and possibly a new series of Hulk movies.”
Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in The Avengers
The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner is in final negotiations to play the Avenger Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye. Sounds good?
Why not, he could actually be just the perfect guy for this kind of role. Marvel universe just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
So what do we know about this project right now? We know that Joss Whedon (best known for creating Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will direct Marvel Studios’ The Avengers, and that pretty interesting cast is involved…
So, Renner is about to join a great cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
Edward Norton could reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk as well, but no deal is in place. There are also rumors that Nathan Fillion will play Hank Pym/Ant-Man and Malin Ackerman will play Janet van Dyne/Wasp.
Iron Man 2 Review
Like the original, Iron Man 2 is a good time from start to finish. Buoyed by Downey – who clearly has so much fun playing Stark that you can’t help but play along – the movie is pretty much all you could ask for from your summer fare: Lighthearted (and actually laugh-out-loud funny in parts), loaded with tons of action and copious amounts of eye candy, and buttressed by the promise of bigger Marvel Comics-based adventures on the horizon…read more [Premiere.com]
Robert Downey Jr. looks as hung over in “Iron Man 2’’ as he seemed drunk in “Iron Man.’’ He does his share of drinking this time, too. And the sequel makes more out of his insobriety. It has an early stretch where it fizzes and slurs, with the stars stepping on each other’s lines and feet. The movie feels drunk, too.
Downey’s billionaire military-industrialist slut, Tony Stark, slams down into his own expo (for both peace and state-of-the-art weaponry) as his ironclad superhero self. The elemental casing falls away, revealing a handsome pinstripe suit. Tony pats himself on the back for saving the world (“I’ve privatized peace,’’ he brags), praises the scantily clad entertainment (hey everybody, it’s the “Iron Man 2’’ dancers), then finds himself served with a subpoena to testify at a Senate committee hearing, where the movie begins its improvement of the flagging after-party atmosphere of the first movie…read more [boston.com]
