For those not familiar with the book, the story follows a 32 year old woman (Julia Roberts) who was educated, had a home and a husband, and a successful career as a writer. However, she was not happy; she was depressed with her marriage, often spending the night crying on her bathroom floor.
She divorced her husband and entered into a relationship with another man named David (James Franco), but this relationship did not work out either. She decided that she needed a change. She spent the next year traveling the world. She spent four months in Italy, eating and enjoying life (Eat). She spent four months in India, trying to find her spirituality (Pray). She ended the year in Bali, Indonesia, looking for “balance” of the two, and love (Love).
Eat, Pray, Love Trailer
Today we have the first trailer for the upcoming Julia Roberts drama Eat, Pray, Love.
Eat, Pray, Love is based on the best-selling memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, published back in February of 2006, about one woman’s year-long journey around the world and into her soul.
By the time Elizabeth Gilbert turned thirty she had everything an educated, ambitious American woman was supposed to want — a husband, a house, a successful career. But instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she was consumed with panic, grief, and confusion. She went through a divorce, a crushing depression, another failed love, and the eradication of everything she ever thought she was supposed to be. To recover from all this, Gilbert took a radical step. In order to give herself the time and space to find out who she really was and what she really wanted, she got rid of her belongings, quit her job, and undertook a yearlong journey around the world — all alone.

On the heels of a painful divorce, the woman who had previously looked forward to a contented life of domesticated bliss sets out to explore the world and seek out her true destiny.
