Carla Gugino Joins “Sucker Punch”
Carla Gugino has joined to the cast of Zack Snyder’s fantasy action movie “Sucker Punch.” Gugino last worked with Snyder on “Watchmen,” where she starred as the first Silk Spectre.
“SuckerPunch” which Snyder likes to call “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns” is set in the 1950s and follows Babydoll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days.
While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out.
Gugino will play a nurse in the insane asylum who becomes a madam at a brothel in the film’s alternate reality.
Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone and Abbie Cornish also stars the movie.
“SuckerPunch” begins shooting in early fall in Vancouver and is set to be released on March 25, 2011.

Jamie Chung and Jena Malone Join Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch
Jamie Chung (Dragonball Evolution) and Jena Malone (Donnie Darko) have joined the all-female action cast in Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch.”
Vanessa Hudgens, Emily Browning and Abbie Cornish are also set to star in the film.

THR says Chung will play Amber, a country girl with a big heart, while Malone will play Cornish’s younger sister. Like everyone else in the film, the two girls will be inmates at a mental instituion.
Emily Browning Stars In Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch
Emily Browning has replaced Amanda Seyfried in Zack Snyder’s next movie “Sucker Punch.” Seyfried wasn’t able to take on the role due to a scheduling conflict.
Browning, the Australian actress who can next be seen in horror film “The Uninvited,” will take on the lead role of Baby Doll, an insane asylum inmate who loses herself in a fantasy world where she dreams about escaping with her fellow inmates. So, Snyder likes to call the project “Alice In Wonderland with machine guns“.

The action-fantasy film is the first project at Snyder’s new production company Cruel and Unusual Films. Snyder will co-write it with Steve Shibuya, from his own short story, and produce with his wife Deborah Snyder.
“Sucker Punch” which also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood, and Emma Stone is set to be released October 8, 2010.

After releasing a poster earlier this week, DreamWorks has now put a trailer for “The Uninvited” online.
