He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (Eva Mendes). Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience. Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Trailer

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans” more-than-two-minute promo trailer directed by Werner Herzog has hit the web.

Bad Lieutenant

Abel Ferrera directed and co-wrote the 1992 original, which earned Harvey Keitel an Independent Spirit Award for his performance as a drug-addled, gambling sex addict who investigates the rape of a nun.

Actually, “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans” isn’t real remake! Herzog himself calls it “a completely independent autonomous story.” He even claims he’s never seen the original.
At the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, director Werner Herzog announced a remake of the film with Nicolas Cage starring and the original film’s producer, Edward R. Pressman returning. When asked about the remake, Ferrara said,

“These people should die in hell, all three of them. It’s so disrespectful. And it’s a good thing I’m not there (referring to his delayed arrival in Cannes) If I see them I’ll strangle every one of them”
“Nick Cage, Werner Herzog … I hope they’re in the same streetcar when it blows up.” [Source: LA Times]

A brand new poster for the upcoming “The Spirit” film has been released.

Adapted from the legendary comic strip, “The Spirit” is a classic action-adventure-romance told by genre-twister Frank Miller. Jackson) has a different mission: he’s going to wipe out Spirit’s beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City’s rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront … all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are Ellen Dolan (Sarah Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; Silken Floss(Scarlett Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; Plaster of Paris(Paz Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; Lorelei (Jaime King), a phantom siren; and Morgenstern (Stana Katic), a sexy young cop.
