F. Gary Gray to Direct Sam Worthington In The Last Days Of American Crime

By Fiona | May 9, 2011 | Movie News (0) Comment

The Last Days of American CrimeF. Gary Gray is definitely a busy guy. So as Sam Worthington. Today, we’re here to report that Gary Gray is (indeed) going to direct an adaptation of Rick Remender‘s comic series The Last Days of American Crime and that Wothington is attached to star in it!

Ok, no surprise here, we already had a chance to hear some rumors about this project last year, but now, it’s kind of an official thing.

“A fast-paced, futuristic crime story” – that’s exactly how they describe Remender’s graphic novel. Or, if you prefer more details:

“With one week until the end of all crime in the United States, can the last heist in American history be pulled off? In the not-too-distant future as a final response to terrorism and crime, the U.S. government plans in secret to broadcast a signal making it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts.

To keep this from the public, the government creates a distraction, installing a new currency system using digital charge cards.Enter: Graham Brick. A career criminal never quite able to hit the big score, Graham intends to steal one of the charging stations, skip the country, and live off unlimited funds for the rest of his life. But the media has leaked news of the anti-crime signal one week before it was to go live, and now Graham and his team have just a few days to turn the crime of the century into the last crime in American history.

By Fiona | Feb 19, 2011 | Movie News (0) Comment

F. Gary Gray and Jon Chu

F. Gary Gray is best known for directing 2009 Law Abiding Citizen. Jon Chu is probably best known as a director of that 3D documentary Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.

So what do they have in common? Well, guess what, both of them are the top candidates to direct G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra follow-up, (at this moment still) Untitled G.I.Joe Sequel!

It looks that guys from Paramount are aiming at a summer 2012 release for the sequel that is being penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (the duo behind the Zombieland), and that basically means that a director is quite necessary at the moment.

Kane & Lynch Without Director Again

By Fiona | Sep 29, 2010 | Movie News (0) Comment

Kane & Lynch, bad luck, guys! The future of the movie, based on Square Enix’s criminal action franchise, is (again!) in doubt, following the departure of director Patrick Alessandrin (man who was in charge for “District 13: Ultimatum” as well).

The movie has already lost director Simon Crane.

Kane and Lynch

So, this actually means that the production on the film has stopped because of French director “falling off” the project.

As you already know, the story that centers on: “Kane is a mercenary. Lynch is a schizophrenic with no past.

They meet while being transported to Death Row. When they are attacked and kidnapped by Kane’s former team, the ill-matched duo is forced to retrieve a stolen microchip that may hold the key to Lynch’s true identity” was due to begin shooting next month.

Law Abiding Citizen Review

Law Abiding Citizen

Remember Charles Bronson in Death Wish? Law Abiding Citizen offers a taste of no-mercy vigilante family-man justice 3.0. Ten years after his wife and daughter were slaughtered in front of him, Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) kidnaps one of the perpetrators, straps him down to a torture table, and saws off his limbs (and other things). Then he sends a video of the atrocity to Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), the slick, out-for-himself Philadelphia prosecutor who cut too soft a deal with the killer…read more [EW]

When “Law Abiding Citizen” feels comfortable enough to be a blunt object of suspense, it comes together splendidly. Pitting the harsh realities of the modern justice system against the suburban cry for blood from a soccer dad, Kurt Wimmer’s screenplay nurtures a pungent odor of injustice that sets up the plot in an exhilarating manner. Morally frozen lawyers? Tired, careless judges? Wimmer manipulates audience reaction superbly, bringing the story to a wonderful boil as Nick stands firm to his case-winning percentages and Clyde sulks away, beaten down by the system that was supposed to heal his aching heart. Now there’s a proper set-up for a bracing thriller that respects the fine art of revenge…read more [brainorndorf.com]
